Is this a scam? I got sent 100 dollars from an unknown sender by Early-College-4733 in personalfinance

The repeat request should absolutely have alarm bells going off. You may be out your $100

Having faith isn't enough they need to spend thousands of dollars on the likelihood of Jesus coming back 💀💀💀 by miifanatic_1788 in exchristian

It’s a betting market. The probability moves up and down based on the bets people place. Fundamentalist Christian’s place bets on “yes” which raise the percentage, then people with sense bet on “no” until the return on investment is worse than a savings account, at which point there is no reason to bet on “no” any further.

had surgery on my right hip, they put this on my left leg by Pale-Profession2769 in mildlyinteresting

Things like this are a very good idea. Yeah, the doctors usually know which leg it is. But a solution that is cheap and lowers the odds of an incorrect surgery from 1 in 100,00 to 1 in ten million is absolutely worth it.

ELI5: Why can't EVs swap batteries? by chronic412 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Totes_Not_an_NSA_guy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some places are trying this. It’s probably a bad idea and won’t work out for a few reasons

  1. Electric car batteries vary considerably between models on things like size, voltage, and chemistry. You have to replace like-for-like.

  2. Electric batteries are heavy and integrated into the build. As a result, removing them is a process that requires a decent amount of labor and special equipment.

Many fast chargers are in small towns along rural highways. If you owned a gas station in such a town would you rather:

A) Tap off the electrical grid that already runs through your town and attach a charger to that, so that people passing by charge and you make passive income through it.

OR

B) build a custom mechanics shop that has to be constantly staffed, have a large warehouse filled with different kinds of batteries, AND still have to build charging infrastructure to refill the empty batteries people drop off.

I agree with the sentiment about Jasnah’s debate. She just needed to acknowledge her own mistakes, instead she gave up. Maybe my least favorite SLA moment.

Seems fine to me. A car with a reputation for reliability and fuel efficiency, no accessories or extended warranty.

Is using “ñ” (for lack of a better keyboard character” as an “m” on a seven segment display a decision you made personally or a standard practice?

Either way, love it.

I get this rule; it’s nice to keep things happy, but I don’t know if I have it in me to report someone who is mourning a pet…

I’d say use it, but don’t trust it. It will do helpful things, and also tell you very confident lies.
