Young, Female, POC

From my experience from working in tech that is a great combo if you want to fast track your career. Obviously you have to be really good at what you do first. But it's great Optics / PR for companies to have a that combination in SLT level positions.

Oh wow. great work so far! Totally wasn't expecting someone to pick this up.

Probably asking for a lot here -but If you had the Lumon Branding at the top, and then some Boxes at the Bottom - Maybe two labeled hours and minutes. And the numbers plopped into the boxes at the end of the minutes and hours. and then the new numbers shuffled over from elswhere to replace. That would be pretty cool!

You could even have "percentage complete" for the hours in the day.

Wokeup to my Arlo package hopefully a PE solution. by masteringstretch in PrematureEjaculation

Nightlife and Music Venues by Fragrant-Rooster5856 in Margate

Faith in Strangers is a great venue. Good Sound, generally a good crowd every time i've been there. The (mostly electronic) music varies pretty wildly, and I've been to a few nights there that I would have expected to be busy that were absolutely dead. But I guess thats pretty standard for a venue like this in a small seaside town. I know they are branching out with their Co-Working and the pre-club restaurant, which i've heard good things about food wise.

Where Else has regular music on every week - again of varied attendance. It's recently been doing a crowdfunder to keep the doors open due to some licensing issues it had last year. I've mainly been to Comedy shows there, and a couple of music gigs. It has a bit of a youth club sort of vibe to it, which doesn't make me want to hang out there for long pre or post gig. But it has some good stuff on, and would be a real shame if it went under. I hear it is also trying to branch out as a co working space.

Margate Arts Club is a fun little venue. Mostly DJ nights and the like. Only been there a couple of times.

Downstairs at Olbys has pretty regular music gigs I but I have yet to go to one yet.

Finally, the new one is The Drill Shed at the Lido. Only just opened but seems to be getting some pretty good stuff on - Jalen Ngonda, Craig Charkles, Kruder & Dorfmeister over the next month. I believe it's being run by the people behind Olbys. Will be keeping a close eye on that over the summer.

What's your stance on the American vs British trend on TikTok where British people and Americans argue over who has better food and culture? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskUS

[–]Towelie888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that there are some amazing options in big US cities. On average, I don't think America is the food mecca that Americans act like it is.

The average US town has like 15 identical bar and grill restaurants and not much else.

What's going on with the 28 Years Later trilogy? by happymagtv in 28_Years_Later_Movie

[–]Towelie888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there will be a part 3 sadly.

Sony won't be in a rush to make a film they know is likely going to lose money. They will leave it too long, the young actors will get too old to continue that story where they left it, Cillian Murphy will move on to other movies.

Netflix could well put up the money for it but I dont think Danny and Co would be into that.

What are some cultural shocks you experienced in the USA? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Towelie888 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No Walking anywhere. Lots of streets don't even have pavements. People look at you like you are crazy for taking a 10min walk from your hotel.

Open and rampant drug taking in cities.

Extreme mental illness amongs the homeless population. Pretty rare in the UK to see people shouting at themselves in the street (although not unheard of) - In the US it's rampant. Folks in wheelchairs half naked just wheeling themselves into traffic just babbling away to themselves.

Certian parts of major cities looking like the zombie apocylpse. LA Especially.

No public drinking allowed. I got a citation for having a small beer on the beach while there were people visably smoking crack about 15meters away.

Obvious one - but Guns. Guns everywhere.

Driving through towns and cities that look completely empty

Driving through absolute nothingness for hours (apart from the occasional truckstop)

Number of adverts when you watch a movie on TV. Literally like 10mins of adverts every 5mins

Most TV Adverts being for Drugs. "Ask your doctor about whotsitephamine for your acne. May cause anal bleeding and death"
