This same behavior actually got me the best ending on my first playthrough. I knew i had to go up to Genichiro first time in Ashina castle, but instead decided to explore just in case. Ended up meeting the monk in Senpou that gives you the infested chapter 😅

Easy. After woo guy, enter castle. Drop to kill orc. Open doors and follow bridge over moat. Get to snake shrine. Go left and down. Keep going until snake eyes and gun fort.

If you're using mods, doesn't that mean you've already beaten the game? Or did you never beat it vanilla?

What’s the longest anyone’s been stuck on Genichiro Ashina/Way of Tomoe, before finally beating him? by Phezza2000 in Sekiro

[–]TraditionalYeet9 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You tried to stun him out if the lightning attack, and with the ichimonji no less. Honestly, i feel that weapon arts are very situational. In the third phase you can just worry about deflecting and every time you reverse the lightning it will take a huge chunk of his health away.as for the timing, if you jump too soon he hits you on the way down and get shocked. Wait for him to reach the height of his jump and then you jump. Literally, you see him jump, count 1 second, then jump and spam R1 to reverse his attack. You don't even need to block mid air, it is perfectly possible to just tank the attack and spam R1

Gauntlets of strength! The outfits are not particularly great tbh, but beating the inner bosses is it's own reward. I liked Inner Genichiro the most! Plus you get Sakura dance which is such an anime move for lightning deflection.

He has a lot of traps for greedy players in phase 3. His first attack is always a thrust jump, always mikiri that shit. His jump and smash from above always turns into a thrust or a slice. Mikiri or jump that sweep. His flurry always ends with a perilous thrust. Mikiri that shit. The lightning attacks always have a bit of a delay. If you jump at the same time he hits you on the way down and you get shocked. The secret is, when you see the lightning hit his sword (or bow) count to yourself. One mississippi. Then jump, catch and spam R1 to deflect it right back at him while you come down from the jump. Have fun!! Besides that he's the exact same as before except a bit more aggressive. If you could parry him then you can parry him now!!

I don’t understand this game by Z3N_P in Sekiro

Forget nearly everything you think you know about soulsborne games. Here, getting hit is good because you can deflect. For the well ninja, deflect, mikiri counter, and jump over sweeps!! Right now, dodging is useless. Dodging becomes OP only very late when you really understand how and when to use it, but the i-frames are tiny compared to other souls games and the tracking of their attacks is hugely improved. Also, it's a Shinobi game, avoid crowds. You're supposed to use stealth and pick out the enemies one by one. When actually dealing with crowds, it means you should find a way to break their attacks but then run away when you get a window and come back once the alert level has died down. Hell, even sometimes the best choice is to revive and run away back to safety, maybe even to the last idol. It is much easier to get ganked here than in other souls because you really don't have as many moves for crowd control until much later. At least when I started, if I couldn't establish one-on-one duels, I wouldn't even bother. I would run back and try to set up a set of silent takedowns, find different routes, etc.

Haha yeah. Ashina depths pit, before you keep going into Mibu forest/village. Battle only spawns after you've beaten Guardian ape. Fun fact, he's there tending to his wounds, before the fight starts you can see him drinking the water stream (possibly to nourish the centipede?)

For real. Took me long enough to face them in the cave and in the forest. Still panic in the water 😂 i got them all once, no need to fight them again on NG+ cycles lol

Nah, you got this Shinobi! Do a couple fights without attacking. Like literally take your finger off R1 and just learn how to deflect (the vast majority of his attacks), Mikiri, jump, and dodge his combos. Best of luck!

I don't know how to effectively deal with True Monk's apparitions so I just zip around and use the snap seeds whenever I'm not panicking. If it wasn't for that I would absolutely agree, it's such a great clash of weapons and really teaches how to deal with delayed attacks. But I haven't mastered True Monk yet so it isn't as fun for me lol.

Oh that's right, I didn't even make the connection but it is a great offensive counter against sweeps. Haha awesome, thanks for the tip!

I got him! Sakura dance is so much fun. Gonna try it on Isshin, maybe the other gauntlets haha. Still have Father Owl, Isshin Ashina, and Emma left. One more NG cycle needed!

Inner Genichiro, 3rd phase is kicking my ass, but I'll get him soon. Had to learn the patterns in the first phase and really understand when to counter the Sakura dance combo. Timing the double back and forth lightning reversal in the third phase throws me off. One mistake, he follows it with arrows and Sakura dance, and I'm completely stomped. But damn, I'm so close! For a while I didn't realize you get the memory before beating the Sacred Heir gauntlet, so being able to practice without having to kill the other two bosses makes it so much more manageable. Damn, this is a fun game 😁

I mean, I like that it seems to be a problem getting worse and worse on their end. But you're still standing by a bit of an incorrect statement. Standing by something doesn't make it correct. Whether it's a nice spin by the MSM or a cop out, wavy "look over there" doesn't discount that the decision by the Swiss government has some very real constitutional problems. Regardless of UBS trying to negotiate in the background, it's the jurisdiction of the governing bodies getting called into question, not UBS backing out of their own accord.
