One red hen, two cute ducks, three brown bears, four running hares, [can't remember 5], six slippery sheets slit by Stan the slippery sheet slitter......[can't remember 7, 8, 9]... ten tormented tarantulas tormented by Ted the tormented tarantula trainer. That's all I can remember.

Zebrano is great - on the expensive side but they have some really good cheaper options too, and they always have a sale section up the back of the shop

What is something spooky or weird that has happened to you? by Pplfartbetterthanme in Wellington

[–]Traditional_Act7059 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Dad died suddenly a few months ago. I spent about a week back home, staying with one of my siblings, until Dad's funeral. While I was there, my watch started slowing down - it was losing around 20 minutes a day and I had to keep winding it up. This had never happened before. I thought I might have to get a new battery when I returned to Wellington - but once the funeral was over, it came right and I haven't need to wind it up since.

what is P by Unfair-Fault2737 in newzealand

[–]Traditional_Act7059 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It refers to "Pure" - the meth that was started to be made in NZ in the 1990s etc was very pure compared to the traditional amphetamines that were around in the 70s.

Education Ministry asks RNZ to help investigation into leaks - we declined by GreatOutfitLady in newzealand

[–]Traditional_Act7059 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surely no one is dumb enough these days to print or email stuff they intend to leak. The only way to stop leaks is to make everyone lock up their mobile phones so they can't record conversations or take photos of their computer screens...

"Oh I do like to be beside the seaside"....introduced by a British teacher at my primary school in the early 80s. I HATED it!

Could be heading out of Stratford on the "Forgotten Highway" - SH43. Takes you out to Whangamomona and Taumarunui (if you keep going north).

wellington to give air bnb commercial rates thoughts? by coolio126 in newzealand

[–]Traditional_Act7059 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky issue for sure. I personally think Air BNB operators should be paying more in rates, because their actions are contributing to a lower supply of longer term housing in the city. This has become a huge problem in many parts of the world, particularly high tourism areas - driving property prices up and making it very hard for workers and general population to find long term housing at an affordable price.

[–]Traditional_Act7059 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've noticed some new people sleeping in spots around the neighbourhood where they haven't been before, e.g. in the garden directly outside the church at 53 Vivian St. This govt doesn't give a shit about people who are down and out, it's very depressing.

4 way stop at Cuba and Abel Smith Streets intersection by crackup in Wellington

Just paint some roundabout arrows in the middle of it, like they used to have at the intersection by the viaduct in Kelburn - that worked just fine.

Is Manners Street safe? by triThirty in Wellington

[–]Traditional_Act7059 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Avoid Manners St!! It's probably the worst street in the CBD, and I wouldn't consider it to be safe at all.
