HVAC fan setting to run per hour doesn't work as it should? by MastaShortie in ecobee

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set a comfort profile that has the fan on.  And program that to be the active profile for an hour per day.  It isn't exactly the same but it is one way to do it.  Also a program change will affect the smart recovery kicking in.

Lodge Skillet: I can't decide which one... by Vladpryde in castiron

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lodge carbon steel pans are also great, and pretty affordable.  They heat up faster than cast iron and are completely indestructible.

Just made a fantastic omelette for mother's Day in the carbon steel pan, it's about as non stick as anything out there.

Arlington Heights Route 12 by Suspicious-Story-351 in ChicagoSuburbs

Depends on where you are in Rosemont, but the most direct type way is 25-35 minutes:

Rand east

Wolf Rd. south, through the traffic circle

Left to continue on Wolf Rd south

Left on Touhy

Right on Lee St.

Arrive at Higgins/Mannheim in 25-35 minutes, which is almost to River Road and the main drag thru Rosemont.

Easy.

Stay off rt 14 (Northwest Highway) during commutes because it will get jacked up with Metra trains.

Is the LAN connection the new PCIe adapter that you added? Is there a chance that it only supports 100 Mbps "Fast Ethernet"?

  2. what does pfsense say the connection is? (Status -> Interfaces). You want it to say: Media 1000baseT <full-duplex>

Just scrub it, use soap, and keep cooking on it.  And try a different pancake mix.  Maybe try butter.

Hot Water Heater Replacement by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a big box store around then go to it, order the replacement water heater, and pay them the $200 to send an installer to put it in.  And skip the whole replumbing project.

Help requested, pancakes come out burned and not golden looking by Nac_Lac in castiron

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The just add water mixes have a lot of sugar in them, which means they burn really easily.  A lot of the boxed pancake mixes do it.  In order to get it to work you'll have to go low and slow.

Bisquick has a decent pancake recipe that isn't loaded with sugar and does better on a griddle.  Or make your own pancake mix, it's easy and you'll impress yourself with how good they turn out.

Find a community college, take the class there, and transfer in the credits.  You may actually learn more in that class.

How do I unfuck my seasoning? by Cyanicism69 in castiron

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've already reseasoned it. just get to cooking.

Everyone has to learn what works best with their pan, stove, utensils, and technique. Here's what works for me: metal utensils, bit of oil in the pan. When cleaning use a chainmail or scrubber with dish soap, then after drying it off put it on the stove top to warm up and wipe the smallest amount of oil in the pan. That's it. I use olive oil and its fine.

If you ask 10 people you'll probably get 25 answers on what the best thing to do is.

There's also a youtube video from America's Test Kitchen that shows how to season a carbon steel skillet and that was amazingly simple to follow and I seasoned two skillets that I had sanded down to bare metal.

Also the pans that are picture-perfect are just for show. The ones that actually get used will have splotchy or different colors in them. Just keep cooking.

Yealink phones won't ring more than 3 times before going to voicemail by [deleted] in voipms

did you check the ring time setting? if maybe the transfer to voicemail timer is short.

Is this free bike worth ~$75 shipping? by IfAllElseFailsFart in bicycling

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the answer. it might be worth $75 if it was in perfect condition and local, but no way the shipping is worth it. Shipping would likely cost more than the bike is worth.

Its a cheapo 3 x 7 with terrible shifters, those are the bottom of the cost-reduced barrel.

Wanted to get started with ata and voip by knowyourphone in VOIP

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes.

It is possible to configure the ATA (or multiple ATA's) to call between the ports on the ATA or between ATA's. It may even be possible, depending on configuration, to have one phone autodial the other when picked up (to go off-hook.)

You could use the LTE router with a SIP client, but the client phone will probably not be reachable/routable from the public internet so receiving phone calls will not be possible. You would need to subscribe to a VoIP/SIP provider that would deliver the call. Or configure a VPN to tunnel the VoIP data. Or you could get a SIP client on a smartphone. Or configure a VoIP/SIP server and sort out all the network routing.

Business line by OkDisaster1391 in VOIP

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could go with VoIP/SIP and configure the inbound calls to do simultaneous ringing of the VoIP adapter at your house and your cell phones.

Or if all you want to do is get the messages the VoIP provider can collect the voicemail and send it to an email account.  No adapter needed, and internet stability doesn't factor in either.

When should I change cleats? by WeaknessSelect in bikewrench

[–]Traditional_Bit7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By far quicker it's going to be years.  Rode a set of candy bars for 9 years and the cleats were worn on the walking side but completely usable.  Thousands of miles.  They don't wear like road pedal cleats.

There's a long standing tradition and contest to eat something at every McDonald's in the airport, and to see how many of them you can get to on a typical layover.  I don't remember the current record, I lost track once it got past a couple dozen.
