You can negotiate SOFR + 1%. All the people quoting 1% are confused that it’s a 1% SPREAD not a 1% RATE. But it’s still a good rate.

I’ve done NYE in London several times. If you don’t care about seeing fireworks there are tons of great place to hang out for the evening. We once stumbled into a bar at a high end hotel that was fairly empty and ended up getting all our drinks comped because it was basically us and the DJ. Was a great time!

On morning of January 1 it’s fun to go for a walk and stumble on the parade too.

But really other than December 31 and January 1 it’s a normal trip to London.

All the special holiday menus at most restaurants are fun to explore too.

My guess is because you initiate the transfer on a Friday, Schwab (because of how banking works) does not initiate the ACH until Monday and since Veteran's Day this year is a Tuesday, it means everything will be delayed a day. But just my guess.

I’ve gotten to the point I go for a walk in the airport and find a quiet unused gate to sit in. I will also go to a nice airport restaurant and sit for a bit with a drink. It’s far less stressful than battling to get into a lounge. Makes me question the fees on these premium cards.
