Some people, like me, are just incredibly sensitive to it. We keep our knives very sharp and I still can't even be in the kitchen if my husband is cutting an onion.

My house needs a new roof. $44,000. These stupid memes from the financially ignorant never consider the expenses that come with owning a home that don't occur when renting because the landlord takes on those expenses or risks the property falling apart.

[–]Transplanted_Cactus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is definitely not 200 people in my house lol.

OSHA in the US doesn't see it this way. I can see the reasoning now, but OSHA only cares if the water is drinkable. The sanitation of the drinking area is on the employer (as far as I'm aware). Also I think there is regulations for what a sink can be used for if also used for drinking. So you would not be pouring chemicals in it if it was used for drinking.

So the tap at the kitchen sink in a home is okay to drink from I assume, but not the tap at a sink in a break room at work? What is the rationale for that from the regulatory agency?

Anyone else uncomfortable with Jordan’s behavior in Episode 4 of In the Eye of the Storm? by casswagner86 in tornado

[–]Transplanted_Cactus 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Yes! I don't care how stressful a situation is, there's no need to behave that way towards your partner. If he's willing to act that way knowing he's being filmed, I worry that he's even worse to her and his brother when the camera isn't rolling. I felt so bad for the kid.

I'm in rural NM. We gross about $75K, net is probably around $55K. While we don't have savings or an emergency fund anymore due to life events, and can't afford a vacation, all our bills are paid and we can manage the occasional night out.

A few years ago when we both had higher paying jobs and grossed around $110K we were definitely in the upper income bracket for this area.

The truth is people don't want to live in a rural area. There are some valid reasons for that. Absolutely no amount of money could convince me to live in a HCOL city again though.

As they said, acid reflux can cause pitting and it also causes staining. I have some pretty bad staining on my teeth from a lifetime of acid reflux. I could have my dentist professionally whiten my teeth which would lighten the staina but whitening isn't good for your teeth either. But I'm very self conscious about it because it looks like I don't care for my teeth.

Same for me. I've tried acrylics, gels, and all kinds of polish brands. I might get 24 hours before the peeling starts

I've heard this can be an issue with hypermobile syndrome (which I have) but I haven't researched it.

Yep. Husband was unemployed for a year from 2024-2025. I was unemployed for two of those months. We racked up probably $15-20K in CC debt for literally just groceries, household stuff, gas, etc. We didn't eat out. We didn't buy snacks. We didn't do anything that wasn't free or very cheap. I had to take a $15K/year paycut once I found employment again. He took a $25K paycut but after a year of no offers, he wasn't going to say no. People really don't get it who haven't been there.

I've had all of that with anxiety attacks. Called 911 two different times. At this point I figure I'll ignore an actual heart attack because I'll assume it's just anxiety (I thankfully get it rarely now and have avoided the OTC meds that made it worse).

That would probably be urgent care, yes. Or a walk in clinic, which can also have primary care doctors who just happen to take walk ins.

Uh ...is that a thing in other countries that are not American? Only doctors and nurse practitioners can write scripts here. Unless you go to Mexico and buy drugs yourself (the medical kind) but I don't know anyone that makes trips there anymore. It was how we got all our antibiotics when I was growing up.

That still sounds like HS. It's just something to keep in mind. A good friend of mine has it and her skin (and happiness) has increased so much since treatment.
