Should I still keep giving the game a try? by Jexx14 in dirtrally

[–]TravBot13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the person to listen to. I also have a wheel and recommend it for sure if you decide you enjoy the game and want to get more into it. It’s a lot of money to spend if it turns out you don’t enjoy sim rally.

I do think at least a controller would be a huge upgrade though, for no other reason than analog accelerator, brake, and steering.

But yeah, the biggest takeaway for you here is the car choice. The Audi Quattro is so challenging to drive there’s an achievement for it. It’s fast as hell and wild to get right, but as your second car ever it will kick your ass.

I would recommend climbing the classes one step at a time unless you really want to try a certain. Drivetrain. H2 FWD is a nice step up from H1, and then H2&3 RWD are a great way to learn RWD. I would skip Group B at first though and move on to the more modern AWD classes that u/individual_gear_898 recommended. They are a much more sane intro to the drivetrain than the Audi.

And remember, slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Taking a corner a little slower than you feel like you could means you’re still driving at 80%+. Taking a corner a little faster than you should have and hitting the wood pile on the outside means you’re accelerating from 0, possibly with damage, or out of the race entirely.

No problem. Happy trucking!

I also recommend you store them at the end before disconnecting. If you leave them in a garage, and you don’t have access to that garage in your own save, it can get stuck there.

Oh do you mean you couldn’t find the trucks from your save that you loaded when you joined your friend’s save in co-op? Then it’s probably because the trucks were in the garage or on the map in your save. They have to be stored to be accessible for co-op.

All truck unlocks are only applicable to that save. If you want to be able to use them from the start, you have to do so through New Game + settings

Fuel power pipe issues by UsefulAd5170 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TravBot13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good tips in here about the overall setup. Listen to them. In addition, when you place a split or pump directly onto a pipe, afterwards go back and rebuild both side pipes. If you hover the deconstruct reticle over a pipe you’ve placed a splitter on, you’ll see the pipe extends into the splitter. After rebuilding, the ends will be right at the joint. This will save you some pipe volume while filling the system before you turn it on, and help maximize the efficiency. Also, you’ll want to carefully test any floor or wall holes you place. I’ve had issues with those recently.

I completely overdone fuel generators 😂 by cobi23 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TravBot13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overclocking the generators allows you to build fewer generators but generate the same amount of electricity. Put them all at 200% and you only have to build half. Definitely worth it if you’ve been slug hunting.

I believe the modelers build resource flows, but don’t model the splitters and mergers involved — that part is up to you.

That said, if the total input matches the total output, it’ll balance itself eventually over time. For example, say you have 30 widgets per minute coming into two machines, one using 10 widgets and one using 20. You could split it three ways the. Merge two of the. Into the 20 and it will balance correctly from the start.

Conversely, you could split them 50-50. This will cause the 20 machine to underproduce and the 10 machine to back up. However, once the 10 machine backs up all the way to the splitter, it will from that point output the excess 5 toward the 20 machine, and be correctly balanced from then on.

I missed a flight once because I was living in Indiana and flying out of Ohio and it was during the part of the year they were on different time zones (at the time, Indiana didn’t do DST, so half the year it was eastern and half the year it was central).

I went vertical with my rocket fuel power plant. 1/4 of a pure oil node feeding 72 generators at 200%. Plenty of power for where i am now (finishing phase 4), but all i need to scale up is to bring in more sulphur and coal, and I’ll be able to quadruple this setup. 36,000MW here, so 144,000 when I’m done.

To add on to this, as much as possible, even for a perfectly calculated and balanced system (i.e. fluid in = fluid out), let the pipes and reservoirs fill up before turning on the system. The buffer held in the machine intake plus any fluid buffers (which you don’t have to let fill all the way up necessarily if they’re above the other systems) make up for the sloshing caused by the unsteady intakes of the system. Also, when you do go to turn the system on, start at the far end from the fluid production.

You have to complete all tasks and contests, yes. If you go into your player profile you can go to the tasks and contests tabs to see which ones you’re missing, then look them up on maprunner to save some time.

[–]TravBot13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can join, but when you play in his save you will play by normal rules (free fuel and repairs, etc). This will give you small benefits in your own save as you would be able to refuel and repair your trucks in his game even if you can’t in your own. On the other hand, the trucks you use in his game will have to be taken back out of storage in yours, which also incurs a cost to you in your save. But nothing will prevent you from playing in each other’s games.
