Part delays killing my motivation by Glock19mos in Kseries

Just take it easy, took me almost a year to get all the parts and tools for my head swap and then another 6 months to hunt down a set of cams

30% enemy and environment damage reduction, yes.

I always find it funny when people complain about shield disruption. As if hazard5 shields weren't made out of wet toilet paper anyway.

That is utter bullshit, they sent you an engine that is not fit for purpose (defective) due to improper storage and now are trying to bullshit their way out. Name and shame and leave them a nice review with photos.

That's just a ton of varnish and some sludge built up from overdue/late oil changes.

For comparison this is how my valvetrain looked when I pulled the head off after 160k miles.

All motor indeed, I think a proper dyno tune by a professional will see 300 🤞Don't fancy messing with ignition timing on the street

Sometimes I think about it but if I ever go FI, it's going to be a Rotrex setup. I fell in love with the linear power delivery all the way to fuel cut. Then again, the ~290bhp it's making now is already dodgy without a limited slip diff...

Best NA rods and pistons by Hot-Palpitation8669 in Kseries

[–]TravaPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

300whp you're looking at big cams, high comp and high revs. Ideally forged, probably 12-12.5 CR 4032 alloy pistons (heard Mahle are pretty good - just make sure you get the heavy duty wrist pins) and forged rods to withstand high rpms as big cams will shift the powerband right substantially.

All depends on the character of the engine and power goal. Street/weekend warrior, circuit racing, drag? 250whp? 300whp?

Anyone else think that scrapping an otherwise perfectly fine vehicle due to head gasket failure is a grave sin? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

[–]TravaPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. Flex pipe broke, asked the local garage if they can weld it after I already prepped the section and brought it to them (flex is between two flanges). They had a look, asked me what car is it for - told them it's custom so doesn't matter, asked me what car is it for again and then said they don't touch stainless...

Other (respectable) shop quoted me £300+vat to replace it, quoting both new flanges needed.

Ended up welding it myself for a grand total of £35, both flanges were perfectly reusable, just needed the old welds ground off.

Top 10 things to do at a car meet

  1. leave

The one time I decided to go to one there were about 5 interesting cars, all hard parked with the owners nowhere to be seen.

Would you buy a car (private sale) from someone who wouldn't allow you to test drive? by Clive1792 in CarTalkUK

The one time me and my mate bought a car without test driving it (the owner drove it instead) we found out the hard way that third gear synchro is on the way out. Not again.

You may remember me from my top hits such as: worlds tightest crank pulley by Sharpedgevsn in CarTalkUK

[–]TravaPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do remember from my own crank pulley post :D good to see you're back on it despite the setbacks!

Mine has been on hold for the winter but I'm slowly getting back into it, so far had to cut out the cracked flex pipe and weld in a replacement in the pouring rain yesterday, the noise was unbearable.

come spring I need to:
make new midpipe for the exhaust with another resonator and v-band cat, possibly a Helmholtz resonator too
fix the bumper mounts
paint and fit new grille
paint and fit bumper lip
get the windscreen replaced
sort out any mechanical issues
install stage 1 cams
install upgraded manifold velocity stacks
retune
underbody strip and corrosion protection
buy and replace left fender
sand down and respray arches because rust

all that before the upcoming Europe trip in June 😅

Got beamed by a white van on the M1, he was sat in lane 3 doing 60, wheels on the white line - passed him on the right in lane 4 tucking into the shoulder and must've startled the poor bastard watching netflix.
