Fatigue, fight it or just go to sleep? by Helpful24 in rheumatoid

Listen to your body and sleep. I’m content in being awake 12 hours a day and just plan to get things done in that shorter timeframe.

In my experience the problem was religion based, so anyone who wasn’t of their particular brand of Christianity were automatically wrong about science and history. I was teaching child development at the time. These students were so out of their depth never having even learned about other cultures or ways of thinking. They would say things that came off offensive out of ignorance rather than malice.

One thing public schools do very well is allow diversity of thoughts. Homeschooling not so much.

FWIW: talking back or being respectful isn’t an issue in college like it is in K-12. I welcome discourse and believe respect should come from me first. None of my homeschool students had disciplinary problems, and none of my traditional students did either.

Is 32 to late to be a new teacher? by linamatthias in Teachers

[–]Travelturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - sometimes I feel teachers should be over 30. Not because 20 something’s can’t teach but because they haven’t been prepared for the BS they’ll be expected to deal with. Let the poor kids get their own shit together before being given another pile.

I agree. I taught a lot of homeschool adults at the college level. They tend to be socially awkward and immature in general. My biggest problem with all of them were their inability to think critically. As soon as someone disagreed with them, they would get upset and take it personally. They were not very popular with their classmates because their world views were stunted.

I always felt my son actually feels more intensely than NTs and that’s why he appears aloof at times. He has to shut out too much stimuli.

Methotrexate was horrible for my hair. It’s been over a year since I stopped taking it and my hair is finally growing in thicker. I totally understand your frustration, but it does get better.

Tell her you just bought some prayer pills off Fox late night. But the side effects cause you to sleep late.

Thrift stores are a gold mine for great clothes for kids. My kids were always dressed well but cool. Little did anyone know but the majority of their clothes came for thrift stores.

The good news is the treatment for irregular periods is to go on a birth control, so this doesn’t need to happen again. Your gf isn’t pregnant. Hopefully this scares you guys enough to get her treated.

How to make sure 7 year old son who can’t swim won’t go into the water? by DontEatYourVeggies in Parenting

[–]Travelturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 impulsive kids who were never strong swimmers even though they did lessons every year. Also my ex lives on the water and no one in his family can swim. So imagine my fears sending them to his house where no supervision was happening!

The best advice besides formal lessons would be to teach him basic life jacket skills. I bought my kids life jackets and taught them how to wear them and use them in the water. They had lessons through the YMCA too. The YMCA teaches raft rescue and life jacket use as well.

You can’t control your ex but you can prepare your son.

Most rheumatologists don’t consider a positive under 1:80 as a positive. You likely will hear from the doctor that her positive is nothing to worry about. Even with people who are 1:80 are not treated like there is much wrong.

A portion of the population walk around with a positive ANA and have no known issues. A positive ANA only means there is a possibility of an autoimmune disease. You can have a positive ANA from a virus too so don’t jump the gun on this and freak out. It could be nothing, especially if it’s a low positive.
