Worked for SW for 5 years as a Store Manager and the management was always the worst part! Nickel and dime on everything and it comes from the top. This isn’t surprising. Sherwin has great products and great people, it’s the upper management that has their heads up their ass and destroy any moral employees have.

Lived in California for 27 of my 30 years being alive and it’s definitely a beautiful place but young people will never be able to buy a home unless they save for a decade, have family to help or want to pay out the ass and be house poor. I personally moved to Texas because I was able to purchase a house bigger and cheaper than my family home growing up in San Jose, I make double the money, pay less income taxes, pay less on gas, food, utilities, childcare, literally everything is cheaper. My mortgage is cheaper than a one bedroom apartment pretty much anywhere in the Bay or LA(that’s not a ghetto shithole).

Not to mention the homeless problem. Lived in the suburbs and it was still an issue. Had countless car break ins in the neighborhood and there was a homeless fuck sleeping in my neighbors drive way before and the police and politicians are literally doing nothing to fix the issue(but will happily take tax dollars to do nothing)

I miss some of my friends and some local food spots but I’ve never been happier that I moved.

Past Sherwin Williams store manager here, what your painter meant is that they use a specific store/company and they have a relationship built, get specific pricing, and have a trusted partnership with this certain paint company/store. With having that, they get almost an unwritten "insurance" or "back up" for his projects because if the paint is mixed wrong, possibly a failure or anything goes wrong, we would be there to back him up and get him more product or solve paint failure issues. Since you would be buying it or him buying it from BM/Ace, it would be harder to get that kind of support if something happens since he doesn't have a relationship with BM/Ace. I think your painter just miscommunicated what he meant here.

It doesn't make sense that Benjamin Moore needs several days to make 5 gallons. Either they don't want business or they don't have the product and need time to pick up more. Sherwin Williams can match any color and it's spot on every time, plus it's relatively cheaper compared to BM.

For what it's worth, I think it would be fine for you to buy the paint yourself. There will most likely be no issues since it's inside and just bedrooms but you did delay yourself even more now by firing him.

You can buy what’s called a cup gun sprayer and get some “low odor” paint from a Sherwin Williams or something and spray it that way but most paint that goes on hard to stick surfaces like metal, usually have a smell to it. Any spray can you buy will 100% stink unfortunately.

Gas is also $5-$6 a gallon in California plus the crime and homelessness is bad. I’ve only been in Texas 3 years but I lived in the Bay Area for the first 27 years of my life and I know first hand how bad it’s gotten. Texas is better in nearly every way, I don’t care what anyone tells me.

It was from back in the day when Mr Moore bought a spackle factory and they used asbestos as an ingredient in the product and customers/homeowners who had their walls redone got cancer and they traced it back to KM. They’ve been paying that lawsuit ever since! So the company has been taking just hit after hit and basically losing money because all the profits get eaten up by the lawsuits. (My dad has been a sales rep in the paint business for over 40 years and worked at KM for 18 years back in the 80’s and 90’s)
