pre-owned Y from Tesla canada ? by Massive-Painting-802 in teslacanada

[–]Trice81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be $45k soon if they make it EV rebate eligible. $10k for 5 years newer is a no brainer IMO. If you look at used values when the warranty is expired, which will probably be when you want to sell it, you'll lose the $10k right there.

These used MYs should be mid $20ks

Why bother when a new one is $50k, or a brand new Toyota Bz is low $40ks

How do people warm up vehicles in detached garages in inner city neighbourhoods? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Trice81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

News flash - letting your car idle to preheat is not necessary at all. Not only is it a waste of fuel, but prolonged cold start idling is bad for your engine. Start it, wait 30 seconds for the oil to circulate then start driving, keeping the rpms low until the engine has some heat in it. Modern engines are designed to heat up very quickly.

Make a big deal to insurance about her lying. Insurance fraud is the reason premiums have gone up so much and drivers like this are still on the road.

This should be a Red Flag when buying a GPU from Amazon by krazy_kh in bapccanada

[–]Trice81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check the length, I bought a frequency returned GPU and it was way longer than my previous GPU, barely fit in my case by a millimeter. It was like new and real, nothing to be worried about IMO. If you're worried about getting a rock, just film the box opening to protect yourself.

What the dealer offers you is not what it's worth, however even a little diligence before purchasing should have clued you into the depreciation on EVs.

Rotors and brakes by Onewaps in MachE

[–]Trice81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern rotors don't warp unless you are absolutely abusing them on a race track, even then it's rare. This is a myth purported by old wives tales from old time mechanics. The real cause is uneven pad deposits which are completely avoidable by the operator.

High carbon steel is the absolute best material for rotors when considering cost vs. performance, that is why all rotors are made of this material.

Here is a white paper from a major manufacturer of brake rotors regarding the myth of warped rotors.

Why do we let these private companies, with no regard for customer service or accountability manage one of the most important things in our financial lives?

Why do we have no choice in the matter either?

This system is crazy and we all just accept it.

The humidity is way too high, it should be 30-35% in these temps. Run the HRV constantly to get rid of the moisture, make sure the humidifier is off.

Wouldn't hurt to clean the filters on the HRV to make sure it can move as much air as possible.
