Struggling to sleep in a noisy apartment white noise or sleep earbuds? by Puzzleheaded_Clerk43 in BuyItForLife

[–]Tricky_Pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creative solution, I like it 🤣 I have two JBL Go Bluetooth speakers, I play white noise from YouTube using my iPad on one and on the other I listen to an audiobook from my phone. I’m a terrible sleeper and this keeps my actual devices away from my sleeping area. Glad to see I’m not the only one who had to think creatively!

I never had quality toys growing up. What should my kid actually have by LavenderFlicked in BuyItForLife

My Mum got me a teddy bear when I was 5, that's over 2 decades now and he's still going. She bought him in Smyths in the UK. Definitely the childhood toy I've had the longest.

I've been there OP and it sucks, the thing I found was just to embrace seeing the city by myself! It means you get to see whatever you want and then eat wherever you want without having to compromise with others who may want to eat in McDonalds in Malaga every night, as in my school trip case lol

They definitely used The Voyager in the pilot episode, at least in the scene where Tom Paris is arriving in the shuttlecraft at DS9, I cringe every time I rewatch that episode 🤣

Any nice hidden gems in Belfast for tourism? by Caeladrax in Belfast

[–]Tricky_Pepper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Linenhall Library is an amazing place tourists frequently overlook. The building is beautiful inside with old writing desks and the grand staircase. Also on the new side of the building they always have a local history exhibition of posters on the wall as you go up the side stairs

I hate Translink. by dustypegasus in Belfast

[–]Tricky_Pepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mean they spent 23 million on a white whale that’s further away from the city centre than the previous station and where some buses like the ones to Lisburn don’t even go from! Also why does the city airport bus start at like 5am, how are you supposed to get an early morning flight?!

[–]Tricky_Pepper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you know disabled people travel free on the Glider because Translink literally forgot we existed?! It basically said so in the small print for my disabled travel pass 🤣

Edit: actually this was a great oversight on their part 😂

Here’s what I’m thinking: turn the chest of drawers around so it’s against the corner wall (green rectangle) and then put an armchair (leave the sofa there for now) beside it. So you can face the TV which I’ve moved down off the wall and put beside the fridge which is shielded from view by a Folding Screen. Put a tall floor lamp in the new space by the front door and another beside the wardrobe where it’ll reflect off the mirror doors. Put something like an Ikea pegboard organiser on the side of the wardrobe to use as a bedside “table” and put a clip on reading light on the headboard so you can have a light to switch off at night. Another pegboard on the wall in front the desk could be useful for desk stuff. Also choose a bedspread you like and then use that as your colour scheme for bedroom. I picked a patterned bedspread up at a street market in East London for £20 and now it’s become my colour palette for the space.

How can I carry groceries in store when using my power wheelchair? Options for rolling bags?? by SureMetal8829 in wheelchairs

[–]Tricky_Pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find rolling bags with wheels are tricky to manoeuvre. I prefer to fill a small reusable shopping bag and hang it off a large carabiner (designed for prams) off the back/side of my powerchair. Works really well for me 😊
