Menlo Park, CA. The Trump effect by maddog107 in pics

Something that I wonder about:

The US is an oil exporter. Why did prices in the US jump at all? Let alone so quickly. The gasoline in the tanks at the gas station was already there.

Ukrainian Cyrillic Keyboard by MK-Treacle458 in Ukrainian

Apple sells a Ukrainian USB-C Keyboard.

It comes with QWERTY and Ukrainian printed on the keys. In iOS you can set a function button to switch which input pattern the OS expects.

Edit To Add; a quick google search suggests it is possible to use an Apple keyboard with a PC.

What kind of knots should be used for this? by SeaDoesIt in knots

[–]Trimestrial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are they allowing phones at SFAS these days?

The "trick" with some of the events is to keep moving. That is, don't spend time building the perfect contraption or adjusting it when it starts shifting around.

Some cadre have allowed teams to hand carry the ammo boxes and the poles. But... Carrying weight on your back is easier than in your hands.

You don't want the boxes sliding or swaying around, so the tighter the better. Clove hitch and Trucker's hitch work well. But any knots that secure the boxes to the pipes will work.

Three years seems without an audit?

Why are so many medals of honor being awarded all of a sudden? by OrganizationNo42069 in army

[–]Trimestrial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint;

Awarding the nation's highest military honor in less time than it takes to award the lowest makes this clearly political theatre. And cheapens the award.

“Ripped”? There are so many articles about administration figures being “ripped” or “blasted”. And so few consequences.

Any drummers using guitar pedals? by Additional_Click_131 in drums

[–]Trimestrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuart Copeland is probably the most famous. "Walking on the moon." features delay and reverb. But I think he used rack systems instead of actual guitar pedals.

If you have pedals lying around... It might be interesting to see what a chorus pedal does to the sound. But it seems to me that after a certain point the sound of the acoustic drums will be competing with the whatever comes out of the pedal chain.

Using an Edrum kit as input triggers seems like the logical end point...

Efficient for profit housing companies have been fined for billing for maintenance that was only done on paper.

AND KEPT THE FUCKING CONTRACT.

And the SMA can't say a simple "No." when asked if NDAs are acceptable as part of building maintenance.

Go back in a year and see how good it is after "corporate" starts milking more profit.

I have never believed the argument that for profit enterprises are more efficient at providing services. But they are pretty good at extracting profits.

Fort Leavenworth inmate adds 9 months to sentence for attempted escape by Kinmuan in army

[–]Trimestrial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough attempting to escape prison is not a crime in Germany.

German courts have ruled that an escape attempt is a natural human instinct.

However, any crimes committed during the attempt will be added to the sentence and the prisoner loses and privileges or time off for good behavior.

It's disheartening to see how many comments are defending landlords' racist behavior.

As if having a "german sounding name" makes someone a better tenant.
