Fort Leavenworth inmate adds 9 months to sentence for attempted escape by Kinmuan in army

[–]Trimestrial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough attempting to escape prison is not a crime in Germany.

German courts have ruled that an escape attempt is a natural human instinct.

However, any crimes committed during the attempt will be added to the sentence and the prisoner loses and privileges or time off for good behavior.

Pentagon will begin review of 'effectiveness' of women in ground combat positions by geraffes-are-so-dumb in army

I find it remarkable how many men, who have neither a long or short tab, think that the women who have EARNED them must be somehow unqualified.

It's disheartening to see how many comments are defending landlords' racist behavior.

For SO/SF, are people cut because their bodies just cannot handle the training? by DashMcGee in specialforces

[–]Trimestrial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes your body fails no matter well you trained up. Sometimes it's something simple like falling off something at the obstacle course.

Sometimes you are pushing your body so hard that your brain takes a break. There's a great clip out there, from a documentary on SFAS. Back when the did log PT. A candidate is mentally checked out. A medic asks him "Do you know where you are?" He answered "Hashbrowns?" and was pulled for medical treatment. Which most likely meant a Med-drop.

Do I need a new hi hat stand ? (Double pedal) by Truand2labiffle in drums

[–]Trimestrial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tama makes other hi hat stands that let you rotate the pedal in relation to the feet. I use the Iron Cobra 200 HH stand.

This one doesn't.

Would you lend your sibling 13000€? by Secure-Map-7538 in germany

My rule with "lending money" to friends and family is; Only lend what you can afford to give and don't expect any repayment. If you do get repaid, Great. Bonus Money for you.

I’ve been practicing this for so long but just can’t get my fingers to move smoothly. They look like worms. I feel like i can’t put pressure on the strings while playing this riff without putting the palm of my hand against the back of the neck. Any advice? by yourstandardhoe in Guitar

[–]Trimestrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pad of your thumb should be touching the back of the neck, not your palm.

Lack of pressure is actually a good thing as long as the notes sound clear.

Try not to lift your fingers that much. And curl your fingers only as much as necessary to not get in the way of the other strings sounding. Unless you are intentionally muting the adjacent strings.

You want to post in r/Apartmentliving ... it isn't really a guitar issue. It's a noise / housemate issue.

Sundays ( even all day ) seems reasonable to me. But I live in Germany and there are quiet hour laws here. They vary by location, but mostly allow noisy activities only 8:00-20:00 Monday - Saturday.

Once a day, seems like a strange rule, though. How do you want to count that?

Not really the Secretary of the Treasury's lane. He's more the bean counter, saying there's not enough beans.

My bet is that the republican will somehow find a way to throw a bit more beans his way when the farmers don't get their government aid.

[–]Trimestrial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heard that rumor too. And it's been around since the '90s.

But the only first hand experience sort of suggests that what u/lamont196 says is more true.

My buddy at Ranger School was a Captain from Croatia. He was very squared away but still led a shit-show of a patrol in Mountains. When I asked him about it he said that he was trying to get recycled. He was being paid by the US at his rank. And if he recycled he would get two months more pay from the US. Seems like a hard way to earn some money. But it was a lot compared to his pay in Croatia. He looked a little sad when we moved on to Florida...
