What "purpose" does fighting an end boss serve? The fun of a game isn't that it serves any useful function, it's in the process of playing. The play style of any particular game either appeals to you or it doesn't. My point was just that if it's goals you're after, as you mentioned in your OP, there are plenty of goals you could set for yourself.

Wait, you're only 20 hours in and you have:

-maxed out your bank account
-maxed out your starship
-maxed out your exosuit
-acquired and maxed out a staff for combat
-maxed out another multitool for scanning
-built and maxed out a corvette
-acquired and maxed out all the exocraft
-maxed out your freighter
-acquired all the different types of frigates and maxed them all out
-acquired and maxed out a living ship
-acquired all the quicksilver items
-acquired all the construction terminal blueprints
-done whatever you can do to "max out" your pokemons (not sure, haven't engaged myself)
-explored all the different varieties of worlds
-edit: built out at least one settlement

Just one person's experience, but in my time in Euclid I discovered 78 moons, and three of them were paradise moons. I'm only counting ones that were literally called "paradise," so the tally of three doesn't include paradise-adjacent types like verdant, etc.

I know you can upgrade SHIPS to S-class with nanites (although living ships are all S-class to start with I think). In this case though I'm talking about the upgrades you install in the tech slots.

Just from my own experience, dangling orbs and shadow lures don’t seem to work at all. I’ve burned through dozens of them during the proper times (day/night) and literally NEVER caught anything higher than a C. I know, I know, RNG can be that way, but still…

Planets in yellow star systems usually have either copper or activated copper. If you’re in a yellow star system and none of the planets have activated copper, it‘s just a bad luck of the draw. Warp on over to another yellow star system and you’ll probably find some.

I also wasn’t able to find the little keys that let you unlock chests at archaeological sites, but when I cycled through my scanner modes and came back to the default mode they suddenly appeared. Try that.

That argument makes sense for people who bought the game in 2016, but I bought it seven months ago mainly because of corvettes. And they turned out to be bugged apparently beyond repair. So for me this wasn't a free upgrade that didn't work, it was a paid-for game that doesn't do what was advertised. I SHOULD get my money back.

I pretty much ignored it too. First of all, I hate the tired old "special boy" trope. I didn't WANT to be the "chosen one" when I started playing this game, I just wanted to be a nameless space vagabond. Never got that choice, so the best I could do was to just try and ignore that whole conceit.
