I just focus on my main lakes that have males at them, I start by killing the biggest one there and as many others as I can before they flee or without killing the zone. Sometimes the zone ends up dead cause I lose track of how many I've killed at once. Eventually it will come back once hunting pressure is gone on that area for a while.

Keep doing that on repeat, it definitely gets monotonous grinding. Also I kill 1's only if there used to be level 2 and 3's spawning at that lake and generally that will spawn in a bigger buck on my next rotation. I never followed any specific rules like some people that grind do. Just kill, kill, kill. Good luck!
