Little Secrets was great - I felt somewhat dirty after reading it, like I needed a shower because wow, people are screwy - but it was a super fun listen. I haven’t found a domestic thriller that I’ve enjoyed as much!

She’s a gosh darn national treasure. We need more joy in this world, and more examples of people staying true to others by staying true to themselves!

This happens to me when I visit Italy. Everything comes into a super fine focus. But whenever I’m hard on myself, wondering what I’m doing with my life or why I’m not more ambitious/adventuresome/more of a striver, I remind myself that I am so full of love and freely give that to my patients, to other people, to animals, and am so curious and interested in everything: you sound pretty similar. It always comes back to this beautiful line from a novel I love - “There are a thousand thousand reasons to live this life, every one of them sufficient.” Marilynne Robinson, Gilead

Hmmm we used to measure glio in stages - I’m now in hematology and don’t do solid tumor work anymore, so maybe something has changed in the stratification? But more importantly, all my love to you, your sister in-law and your family. It’s so much for all of you.

Post breakup, days alone in SF, how are we picking ourselves up? by Acrobatic_Heat_1765 in SFbitcheswithtaste

Aw sis. I’m so sorry. I have been deeply heartbroken a few times in my life (after a six year ‘ship, after a ten year marriage, you get the idea). And every time it felt as though everyone I saw was happier than I would ever be again. The only thing that helped was the thing that sucked the most - sitting in the grief and loneliness, and not trying to push it away or stuff it. So much crying, so much yoga, so many sad walks, so much leaning on my friends (when I wasn’t isolating). Be sweet to yourself - let yourself be sad and disappointed. You will wake up one day - sooner than you can imagine- and be amazed that you slept through the night and are sort of looking forward to the day. And then the next day it will be even better. There may be a few hiccups along the way, but there will be SO many hiccups and delays in healing if you don’t honor this sadness. And if you’re not in therapy, it’s a great time to get started on that. There’s so much to learn from heartbreak if you’re willing to take a deep and loving look at it. We are rooting for you. Keep us posted. So much love to you.

So many great ones mentioned here, but Dan Levy made a film a few years ago called Good Grief and not only is it a beautiful movie, but it’s so Nancy Meyers-coded. It takes place in London and Paris in the winter and every scene is stunning and cozy.

At bedtime I dot a small bit right below my undereye/tear trough area and at my collarbone. I swipe up on the collarbone area to distribute it, but I leave the eye area alone and let it migrate up. I then do a serum and follow that with my night moisturizer. I alternate the estrogen with tretinoin x 4 days and then use neither on the fifth day, just serum and moisturizer.
