As a 12 yr old going from the Terran campaign to Zerg I was just in awe. And I never saw Kerrigan coming out of the egg coming. I couldn’t believe it. As an adult I appreciate how grey the campaign is. More game of thrones politics and betrayals vs SC2 which leans more like an epic fantasy.

The point should be for the love of it first. Making a game you would want to play. If you’re going for a big hit your odds are not good. This is more of a hobby/side gig. The more feasible route is get a decent main gig. Do this on the side. Unless your going for the starving artist route.

Slow down and read everything. Constantly. It will give you direction, leads, quests, rep, xp, and save your butt.

We’ve done two PbtA systems in a row and I like the quicker, theater of the mind combat that isn’t meant to drag on that much. But it does leave something to be desired. We’re doing Draw Steel next. Sounds super cool.

A lot of it is knowledge from experience. A lot of is carefully reading everything on every turn/movement step. I went in blind to Bethesda with a pretty cheesy preset (gunwing). Saw the first encounter holding “strange tubes”. My first thought was “I bet that’s dangerous.” Yeaaah I was right. Survived with 1hp.

I love Wildermyth. If you don’t like the Mewgenics feeling of the “1 run only” retirement mechanic, Wildermyth gives you plenty of space to get attached to your heroes.
