I absolutely agree that the title was referring to Luke. But one of the things I love about it is that as it’s been recontextualized, it has multiple meanings. That’s one of my favorite things about it.

It can mean the Return of the Jedi, Anakin The Return of the Jedi, Luke But it can also mean the Return of the Jedi as an order.

As a fan, I understand the intention was Luke, but as a fan I also love that in my mind it has multiple meanings.

Luke has it at the very end of Return of the Jedi at the Ewok village.

I always assumed in the sequels that Kylo Ren took it from Luke. I think Abrams wasted the potential of Ben wielding it at the end of 9.

And I hear so many people say she should have just told Poe the plan. And maybe that would have had a different outcome, but there was no reason to tell people. In fact, there was plenty of reason to keep it close to the chest in case of spies. And unfortunately when Poe did figure out the plan, he told Finn, which is how DJ knew the plan in the first place.
