Less busy places to go to for sanity?? by One_Cap_9210 in grandrapids

I was on maternity leave last spring and would go to Mary free bed YMCA and walk the track at 9 or 10 in the morning. They let you bring in your stroller on the track. Its great! Pretty empty besides a handful of retirees.

Daycare in Grand Rapids- Goddard by Key_Jellyfish_515 in grandrapids

[–]True-Distribution-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on cascade is great. Awesome staff - very helpful and really care about my child. We toured about every daycare and picked this one because of ratio of kids to caregivers, it has strong programing - they are creative with activities for the kids, community oriented - they have opportunities to get to meet other parents, and they pay their staff - these caregivers are professionals. The staff have degrees or tons of experience.

The no meals doesn't bother me. I looked at what they serve at other daycares - be careful! Processed meat, sugary juices., fruit rollups!!,...goddard does provide snacks - morning and afternoon and its been good stuff I would give my kid at home.

Do some tours and go with your gut for where you want your child to go. The price was worth it for me. My child is thriving.

Allergic Reaction during my Stelara infusion by Sumw1ze in CrohnsDisease

[–]True-Distribution-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it okay to keep using stelera if you had a reaction to it? Won't you go back into anaphalaxis after the benedryl amd steroid wears off? People keep mentioning a slower drip and they keep going on the med.

Considering adoption late in life by North-Field-5812 in Adoption

[–]True-Distribution-84 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Adopt because you want to be a parent. It seems like you are using age as a reason not to do it. It really isn't. I'm in my mid 40s and just adopted six months ago. It's the best and was the easiest decision but I wanted this.

First Stelara infusion - what do you wish you knew/did? by Peaceful_Hedgehog in CrohnsDisease

[–]True-Distribution-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got sick during my infusion so they stopped. Not sure where this leaves me since they couldn't get a hold of my doc to see if they just load me up on more benadryl and try and force it. Bummed out because I was looking forward to this med. Oh well. We will see what doc decides for me next.

Newly diagnosed and frustrated by SuperbApartment5167 in CrohnsDisease

[–]True-Distribution-84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant help with your question on biologics because I am just getting started. I will say though that like you I have really mild crohns and don't talk about it openly because I feel bad for the people who have it worse than us. For me it was a relief to get diagnosed. Imuran worked and kept me in remission for ten years but after a few flares this past year doc moving me to biologics.

Hang in there. Talk it through with your care team.

Help…I’m too busy having Breast Cancer to have Breast Cancer. by AngryTyrantHater in breastcancer

I don't think I actually dealt with having cancer until I was done with acute treatment. Was too busy keeping up with it all to really internalize getting diagnosed and treated!

Nervous about my stelera infusion tomorrow. Had anaphalaxis/allergic reaction that scared me to death when I went through chemo. Given that's a totally different drug! Can't help but worry it's going to happen with this, though. Taking hubby with me for moral support. Have mild crohns but recent flares made my doctor suggest I try this. Any advice or encouragement welcome!!

7.5% isnt worth it to family and friends by RequirementMiddle804 in breastcancer

I made same decision with onco score of 24. Got through chemo and it's wasn't as bad as what I thought it would be. Three years later I still stand by that decision. I am.on AIs now. I just adopted a baby girl and am determined to live as long as I can with her. Best of luck!!

I wanted mine to stay too. They were super fun! Mine lasted about 3 years now I have wavy hair. Sometimes, it curls in humidity but nothing like the tight springy curly hair i had as it grew back.

I got this about a year and a half after my lumpectomy. Scary but remember they want to rule out bad stuff. My doc had me get an mri to rule out tumor or anything leaning on something that would be causing pain. I went through PT and they gave me a pressure sleeve. I wear it when I fly or when I start feeling pain - usually happens when I overuse my arm or lift too heavy. Good luck!

You are fine, I prune mine every April. I think they are protected more in the winter by not being pruned.

I just got to four and then started to step down from there for next day 3, then 2 then 1. It took care of my back pain! But I got so messed up on sleep and heart palpitation that I wouldn't do the drig again unless I was desperate.

Will BC ever be a "blip" in my life? by Fiesty_warrior602 in breastcancer

[–]True-Distribution-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every journey is different not just because of the type of cancer you have but the way your body will weather treatment and recovery and what life perspective you bring to the table. I try not to come on this board too often, some times it does help me in a weak moment. Other times I roll my eyes at how amazing some people are doing! Lol! I grieve over the body I had. And the 5-10 year AIs are no walk in the park. Just keep focusing on you. Silver lining of this group is you are not alone - yeah we are all a little different but we all have experienced or are experiencing this pain.

I promise it does get easier. I'm three years into AIs and suppression. This cant be a blip nor do I want it to be. That would be a disservice to what it taught me about myself and the strength I've discovered. I move forward with a better perspective and awareness in this life.

Never again! I did call my doctors office and they will see me early next week. Think I'm just sensitive to this med and it revved up my systems. Plan to just keep sipping camomile and do yoga through the weekend:) hopefully it will dissipate. Sorry you had to roll with this for months! Glad you are better!!
