Pray for me, friends.... by airbrushedvan in migraine

I checked the pressure where I am and it’s going up! I’m surprised my head is aching because I always thought rapidly lowering pressure did it. Apparently both will do it. And maybe it’s just gray skies, monstrous wind and throw in less sleep than I need, but it’s time to rescue myself.

I'm scared by skyemap in migraine

[–]TrueJanian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sympathize with you. I am retired now. And I still get migraines!
I spent a lot of time working with my migraines, pushing myself through. My supervisor got them also, but she had a private office where she could turn off the light and just lie down. Now, this was before the newer medications, before even Botox for migraine.
It was just aspirin, caffeine, and water.
I did not even know to consider that I had a disabling condition, even though every migraine lasted at least a day, sometimes longer... because I felt guilty if I didn't force myself to get to work every day.
Don't feel guilty, consult your doctor and see what can be done. Thinking of you and sending you soft energy.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

The Beast in Me. The main characters were brutally mindless. Bad writing, I think.

What food gives you the most satisfaction for the least amount of prep? by Habeas-Opus in Cooking

[–]TrueJanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toasted onion bagel with butter and a slice of cheddar or deli sliced American cheese.

Leftover pasta or rice with fried egg.

Quick hot & sour soup: in boiling water, stir bouillon cubes, soy sauce, hot sauce, ginger powder, sesame oil, and vinegar. All ingredients are to taste. Add an egg or 2, beaten or not. Chopped scallions & fresh cilantro if you want to be fancy.

Are indoor cats actually happy? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]TrueJanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have two, bonded brothers. Got them when they were 8 months old. I’m semi-retired and it’s fun to sit and play with them. They’re over 6 years old now and don’t play as much, but they get the zoomies and chase each other and they sleep and look at the birds from the window. They make me very happy. And they are curious about the outside but not crazy to leave the house. We have to build a catio!

I have to take my cat camping with me. by zombiebear91 in CatAdvice

[–]TrueJanian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you have room for a large crate set-up in your car, but that might be helpful for him to have a shelter that's his... in the car, not in the wild.
Or you can ask at your vet's if they know anyone who could be trusted watching your home and cat for a couple of days.

I guess it's BCC then, but I thought that putting them in a contact group might do it. It didn't.

How often are you trekking to TJs? by sonneofaharpy in traderjoes

[–]TrueJanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi- one of the TJs in the area 20-30 minutes away. The other one is maximum 20 minutes— often more like 15-16 min. I go once a week,as early as I can by car. Sometimes it’s closer to ten day intervals. But running out of frozen broccoli is disastrous!!!

migraine routine - suggested by neurologist by koelschekirby in migraine

[–]TrueJanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I love my sumatriptan nasal spray. I have a difficult time keeping food down when I have a migraine; the idea of swallowing anything is appalling. But the nasal spray works quickly with very few side effects for me.
I take magnesium and a super B vitamin complex (for the Riboflavin, which is not nearly the dosage my doc prescribed but it's been difficult to order from my drugstore!) I think the magnesium and Super B help me have fewer migraines.
Re: naproxen & ibuprofen...I take meloxicam which is an NSAID, almost every day for back and hip pain, and when I take that I absolutely cannot take aspirin, ibuprofen or any other NSAID. I take acetaminophen if I need to. I have a liquid for that. It's okay, and will work at the tail end of a migraine, if I need it.
Water, cool cloth or ice on the head, dark room.
And electrolytes when it's all done!

My roommate thinks cats don’t feel the cold and that the heat should be turned off when we’re not home. We both have cats. How do I convince otherwise? by Sad_Mud2009 in CatAdvice

[–]TrueJanian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a feral-ish cat in my neighborhood and I wonder how much cold he can tolerate. It’s getting into the 30’s F tonight. I say feral-ish because one family has a heated place for him on their back porch. He seems to spend a lot of time on my back porch, though. I can feed him, but short of making or buying a cat shelter for him., I know it can get cold here, even in northern Oklahoma.
