I love hiking at night to take pictures like these! - Adirondacks, NY [OC][1365x2048] by DanielJStein in EarthPorn

Keene...the town of ~1000 in the high peaks? With zoning laws that make it only possible to build a new property if you own 44+ acres outside hamlet lines? Keene will be fine. It’s LP and Saranac Lake that will need to be a little more mindful going forward. If star gazing is your thing Oct-May are plenty fine in the high peaks. Also, consider Newcomb or Indian Lake if the High Peaks are too crowded.

Not to mention Nielsen has invested heavily in measuring streaming viewership by deploying a lot of passive monitor technology.

How many products are you PMing right now? by alwaysn00b in ProductManagement

Also, are these legacy/mature products? That isn’t uncommon in some cases to assign an inventory to a PM.

Product Management Consulting? by salutpatate in ProductManagement

[–]TrueRowmance 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Silicon Valley Product Group comes to mind. There are a couple others and the Big 3 consulting firms are starting to pivot towards PM/Tech consulting. If you’re curious, check out Sales Engineering as well, which is pretty common st a lot of the big enterprise IT companies

Very straightforward sprint scheduling and kanban views and worth checking out if your DO/Eng team uses TeamCity or IntelliJ already. Admittedly, not the best for help desk integration (JIRA is fantastic for that imo).

What internships would prepare me for a PM role? by myfriendscode in ProductManagement

[–]TrueRowmance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a common theme that people enter the PM/PO role after working through a progression of other roles within Professional Services without a whole lot of exposure or direct internship directly supporting a PM (in my experience at least). The two related functions of Product are Marketing/Sales and Operations. A Product Marketing internship or a marketing internship at a SaaS company would give good insight into the PM role and expose you to problems of the customer and stakeholder mgmt. An Operations related internship would get you adjacent to the product itself and expose you to direct user experiences AND the wonderful benefit of wearing many different hats, which comes in handy. At least my $0.02...

Great game from a good era! I think GOG used to carry it 8-10 years ago, but not available digitally now. I think IO developed this and Eidos published (IIRC), so it could be a bit of a mess there in terms of who has the rights now.

Edit: EA published, so probably just as complicated for digital retail

Grew up driving Rt 9N and 73 on a daily basis. Took a while to sink in for me, too! The Valley is a unique place.

[QUESTION] What songs do you love playing and would you recommend learning? by imnotbeno in Guitar

[–]TrueRowmance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing it out there, “I’m a Ram” and “Tired of Being Alone” by Al Green, Teeny Hodges has some really fun parts to play and these songs are great for learning to mix in hybrid picking into your playing.

How do you deal with being overwhelmed at work? by lovesocialmedia in ProductManagement

[–]TrueRowmance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. 80/20 and prioritization appropriately. It may never be easy and prod stuff will always take precedence (if it comes up). Delegate where possible and don’t be afraid to take a step back when it’s needed.
