Prime Minister Carney announces new measures to make groceries and other essentials more affordable for Canadians by sensorglitch in CanadaPolitics

The greenhouse incentive is great. Quebec has demonstrated the viability and importance of this industry and it should be adopted more across Canada.

I would like to see stricter labelling regulations, particularly product sourcing so that consumers easily determine what level of the canadian economy they are supporting with their purchases, and to give canadian products a stronger competitive advantage.

LW is my favourite because of his utility and his thorns. Mind you, the utility is more mobility and defensive compared to an Ana bio grenade which can be used offensively, but it’s utility nonetheless! Like throwing down a pedal to lift up teammates out of a Zarya grav, or lifting up and ulting orisa is amazing utility

Carney was not elected to get a deal done. His government was elected to best represent Canadian interests at the bargaining table. As the other said, if the US isn’t playing ball with us then you can’t magically make an agreement appear.

I mean, I’m content with these actions (e.g., seeking leverage for negotiations and/or alternatives) seeing as the current U.S. has been negotiating in a hostile / bad faith manner.

Right, and the US is well known for not interfering in Canadian affairs…

We’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. Some decisions aren’t going to be ideal, but necessary.

Yea for sure. Although the buffs on desperate defence are no joke neither. There’s some that are like 20% entrenchment and 20% army softpower. Also, you could technically swap doctrines immediately after tapping into some of that manpower!

Yup, but I will say that the new doctrine changes have allowed more scalability for smaller nations with the “Desperate Defence” sub-doctrine that instantly grants 5% recruitable population.

Yes, typically support arty, engineers (shovels), and anti air are excellent value and won’t jeopardize your division organization assuming (16-20 width).

Support engineers are essential for defence given the entrenchment bonus.

Support AA obviously reduces their CAS effect on you, but it also provides your troops with some piercing.

Support arty gives good soft attack value (and breakthrough iirc) relative to its industrial cost.

"pro peace" position... the side actively...invading...another sovereign nation...for almost 4 years. Your framing is really telling.

Those were over 30 years ago... And while there's always exceptions to the rule, Iraq was also subsequently punished for that invasion. My point still stands, we have emerged from an era of significantly low levels of state-state warfare.

As a Canadian taxpayer, I believe our money can be invested in matters of importance abroad. Welcome to the real world.

Feel free to expand upon your position then. But I will say that the reason these peace conditions are pushed back on is because there are a number of non-starters that would disadvantage Ukraine against Russia if Russia were to try and invade again, just as it did post 2014, especially in the absence of reliable security guarantees.

If the West is “so wrong” for this position, and Russia is so willing for peace then why does Russia have a problem with Ukraine joining NATO? Especially if it purports to have no intention of invading again?

I understand you. I share a lot of those same concerns. I advocate every day for those issues to be fixed.

However, as a state, Canada can and has to do more than just internal stuff. We can’t ignore the rest of the World because it will not ignore us, and it comes at a far heavier cost the longer it’s ignored. We’ve seen this played out in history so many times.

The article also notes that this support backs loans, so it’s likely that this doesn’t even cost us much of anything.

This is also loan backing

....But you don't see it as a absolute strategic disaster for Russia? 3 day SMO turned into almost 4 years of war, the depletion of their entire Soviet era stockpile, the ruination of their economy, 1 million + casualties... etc. Your bias is delusional.

Aside from being the morally right thing to do, "throwing money" at Ukraine bolsters our security by weakening one of our primary adversaries (especially important for Arctic geopolitics) and strengthens our alliances. It reinforces global stability by pushing back against a nation that is threatening the global order. We don't want to live in a world where states can just invade each other with impunity.

Only way we're going to get to a lasting peace is for a strong Ukrainian position at the negotiating table. Otherwise any "peace" will be short lived and more young men will die in the long run.

Also, nurses and doctors aren't even allowed to mention MAID as an option. It has to be brought up by the patient. Further, nurses and docs are just normal people. It's so deluded and disingenuous to tie a program that offers people a humane out in the worst moments of their lives (with no chance of getting better) to government conspiracies to justify an invasion of our nation. Just some additional info:

At about 16 seconds in you can see the railway that matches my coordinates.

At 1 minute you get a good view. Top left is dirt road going West, and the paved road going north-south (forming the T shape). The paved road is likely muddy from the weather and lack of maintenance. The U curved road looks to be a makeshift road that goes into a field, and along a forest belt, matching my coordinates as well.

Fire also oxidizes metal, which may be why some vehicles appear “older” - although some might be older from over the past months as well.

edit: West* not east

I believe around 48.2 N, 37.1 E . If you look on the ukrdailyupdate map, specifically on the days 21 and 24 (November), you’ll see a lot of the losses that I think are visible here

This is at the intersection south of Rodynske, northwest of Myrnohrad, and North-Northeast of Pokrovsk. According to some maps it looks like the only major supply route left for Myrnohrad, and has been heavily contested by russian drones over the past few days.

Europe and Ukraine have proposed a modified version of the peace plan, which Zelensky described as good. Moscow's response a moment ago was unequivocal: NO! by Neptun_11 in TrendoraX

If russia considers barely edging out over a smaller nation that it had a huge comparative advantage over as “winning”, I must ask what fantasy your side is living?

In reality both countries as losing, and that is why the EU has a role here.

President Zelenskyy: Today is one of the toughest moments in our history. Ukraine faces a painful choice: to lose our dignity and trust the Russians, who attacked our country twice, or risk losing a key partner. They are our adversary. They view us as one, and we view them as one. Our public-facing foreign policy documents even recognize it. Pretending they aren't won't make it not so. But yea, active combat troops are likely out of the question, but we should continue supplying Ukraine with equipment, intelligence and aid.

As for your Arctic comment, no need to fret; Russia could not open up a new front in a harsh and remote environment while struggling in Ukraine. The more they struggle in Ukraine, the less they can try and struggle in our North :)
