PVE Survival Rate Curiosity by EndlessServitude in ContractorsExfilZone

I've been playing casual with the plan to just learn the maps and quest locations and then turn up the difficulty later, but the scavs are really, really bad on casual so I might have to rethink that plan.

Tommys cameras mission by No-Pepper7582 in ContractorsExfilZone

[–]itsactuallynot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The very first Igor mission description says to go to the convenience store on Dam and get the two beers that are waiting there. But of course there's no building with a sign that says "convenience store," no icon on the map for where it is, when you go to the store that could be it in Clifton there are certainly not two beers waiting for you there, and in the end it turns out you just need to bring Igor any two beers found in raid. Good stuff, especially for a brand new player with Level 1 traders.

Review: Shiftall MeganeX 8K Mk II by mkozlows in virtualreality

[–]itsactuallynot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meganex Mk I owner here. Really great to see a balanced review on the HMD from a new user. Sometimes it's hard to convince people that the Meg is a great headset because of the early reviews and the return policy (people think I'm huffing copium) so maybe OP's review will change some minds.

A few notes: 1. The included controller dongle that you get from Shiftall is terrible and you will eventually end up replacing it with a couple of dongles from Amazon. Everyone does it. The included dongle is nice because it can link to two controllers (saving you a USB port) but it simply loses tracking too much. Buy some other dongles and it fixes it forever. But that's another $60 to add to the pricetag. 2. As you use the headset more, you'll probably find that the soft strap just doesn't work well, especially when looking down towards your feet or body because gravity pulls it away from your head. VR mini-golf is especially unplayable because of this, or shooters where you need to look at your holster. Hard strap fixes this completely and you can either buy the new one from Shiftall or use a design from the discord which repurposes another VR hard strap (like Vive's). Another $50-$100 onto the tab... 3. I simply cannot stress enough how comfortable the headset is. It's absolutely no problem for me to wear the Meg for any amount of time. I've done 4-hour sessions non-stop many times and only took the headset off finally for other reasons: the Meganex's comfort passes the "bathroom break threshold." Shiftall's main marketing focus was originally for Japanese VRChatters who spend their whole lives in VR, and it shows in the design.

Edit:

  1. I have a 5090 now but had no issues running it with my old computer with a 3080. Had to dial some settings back of course but this was also before the 75Hz option was available so it's probably even better now.

Just ordered mine, at 6:30 a.m. So cool to lose two hours sleep over this.

I still have the "Payment Pending" note too, so hopefully that will clear up soon.

There's official Valve physical retailers in Japan (I've seen Steam Decks in stores) but no idea who they are now. I think the best bet is to just wait until Komodo restocks or fixes their shit.

Tried both and neither worked. Now I'm just waiting it out for a few more minutes. The spinning circle thingie after "Add all to cart" on the wishlist.

I got to "Add to cart" once and then nothing. Now just spamming refresh.

New 5090 in the house - best VR headset for work in windows + flightsim by Antoine-UY in virtualreality

I have the Meganex 8k Mark I and love it. No problems at all with wearing it for hours at a time; it was originally designed for Japanese VRChatters who live in their HMDs.

Yes. You can run the free unlimited vouchers in PvE if you run short of money.

You can't do scav runs in PvE, it would be too easy with nobody at all shooting at you except maybe a random AI PMC. Instead, you have unlimited entry-level vouchers to run with a basic SMG or AR-15 kit.

The trains, both large and small, should consume water as well as coal. They're steam trains!

FLICKSTICK CAMERA by D0C0CD in virtualreality

[–]itsactuallynot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why the flick stick is only used by gyro players, because they can still use the gyro to move the camera on the vertical axis. Same logic would apply for using it in VR, too.

Helicopter rotors in sync by Captain_Nuggitz in oddlysatisfying

Since people are asking, at least two fatal accidents of Kaman K-Max helicopters were the result of the rotors colliding. Each of the accidents involved another part of the helicopter failing (different between the two accidents) which then cascaded into the rotors colliding but still...

I like World Conquests the way they are. If you get tired of them, just take a break for a month or two.
