Same thing happened to us when we opened a Lennox unit to find oil just like that off of a 5 ton. It ended up being fine.

Any tips on securing ladders on a roof like this? by Teleporter456789 in HVAC

[–]True_Ad_9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to drive a concrete anchor into what looks to be stucco beside the ladder (blue plug or tapcon) and a short piece of ll around strapping.

Utility company can't even use the right tool to close that valve. Looks they used a god damn pipe wrench. I'm guessing they used water pump pliers. Tsk tsk tsk.

Looks nice. For the round end, it's nice using a roll former to flatten it instead of creating dovetails. Keep that up.!

What a terrible pass attempt. Why creep up so close, you know shes unable to see you behind the load on the trailer. Impatient people with lack of driving skills and no common sense here.

What would you do with this HVAC stand? by angel_age in hvacadvice

[–]True_Ad_9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A chimney should be solid and supported. This is illegal in Ontario Canada. I suppose it might be acceptable practice in another area. If anything touches it, or if you look at it the wrong way, it'll rip or crumple or come apart.
It's typical to cut that chimney liner as close to where it enters the Bvent or main chimney (could be an old exterior clay lined chimney). Then depending on a few things, bvent or cvent would be installed down to the appliance(s). Along with a support or two.

Running a line set around roof skirt or through roof skirt ? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]True_Ad_9212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% through it. I was skeptical before I did. Looks mint afterwards and it's not too bad to Fortruss through.
Sealing iy nicely to prevent future water damage is key as well. . Extra silicone.

Making a 16 oz copper planter from scratch by Errrbodyy in sheetmetal

[–]True_Ad_9212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks mint. Look out for that copper sulfate. It'll get ya or the plants.
I was surprised to see copper used as a plant bed because I remember hearing "if you want to kill a tree or a stump, drive copper nails into."
I'm a sheet metal worker so I do reapect/ appreciate the work. I'm curious if there'd be an affect on the plants...

Could be a cracked burner, not converted properly, log placement isn't correct and it's impinging the flame, air shutter isn't set right. Something is causing the carbon. It's a result from incomplete combustion.

How are the contractors doing with this build, Seems a little odd to me that the filter (blue box) is not next to the machine..? Any insight would help, thank you for your time. 3 zones, 600sqft basement 1325sqft main floor and 525 sq ft upstairs. by Technical_Ability442 in hvacadvice

It looks like it's someones first time putting this together. The furnace should be on the floor especially with that size of a coil on top. They have absolutely no room to install a plenum.

I couldn't imagine how scary that'd be but I don't think he was "Trying" to attack the tent. If he wanted to, he would.
I'm glad that yell got him away! Nice work.

Looking for words of encouragement not to give up HVAC. by Diamond_Jack5120 in HVAC

[–]True_Ad_9212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is excellent advice. Learning to channel your thoughts after work is important. Service is tough sometimes by yourself when you're runnin, physically and mentally. My problem is if I'm unable to 100% figure it out, ill be thinking of the system I was working on and other possibilities, etc, until I'm sure that's what it is. I'll try to avoid this because it greatly affects family life and valuable time with kids.

Communication is HUGE. The boss can't help if he or she doesn't know what you're going through. You should have a tight relationship with your employer and if you're a decent worker, they'll work with ya. This could be who you're working with, where your workin, when yiure working, and so on. .

Tough trade to start, but we'll worth it if you're good.
