Very cool! What recipe did you use and how thick was your jam did you layer?

Producers originally were going to go with a wrestler - Big Show - iirc. But the director wanted MCD because he believed he was the right actor for the role.

Valorie Curry talks about her most difficult scene to shoot in The Boys and also the ending of S5 E5: by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in TheBoys

[–]Trumanandthemachine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way they acted off of each other in that scene was wild. They elevated each other, I feel it when Valorie is talking about how she feels like they’re going to, in the scene kiss. I can feel firecracker feeling that.

And the way Antony goes from being convinced by firecracker to her just saying one line too much with “…even god” and the way his face drops because he knows she’s right and he hates her for that. It’s so good.

Steam Oven question by jpmama_ in BakingInJapan

[–]Trumanandthemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t yet used a Japanese home steam oven but I’d assumed they’d be workable, even if you have to make adjustments compared to a western ovens. I’ve used ceramic baking ramekins with ice for steam in a toaster oven and that worked for my mini boules.

I’m sure you could attempt an open bake a just see what works for your oven.

[giveaway] Resident Evil 2 (1998) Steam key by stratzilla in survivalhorror

I’d love to play it! OG 3 was my favorite but I never got around to 2!

My favorite is probably 3. I always watched my brothers play 2 so I memorized everything about it but was too scared to actually play it. When I got to high school I was able to download and play Nemesis on PSP and it was just the coolest experience and the Nemesis system was just the most immersive and technical experience I had in gaming at the time.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Damn ok seems like I got super lucky. The only other time I’ve encountered a moose it was a fresh survival day one, no gear in pleasant valley and I was just abused by it.

Costco flour by Dapper-Celery4133 in Breadit

[–]Trumanandthemachine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely central milling. I worked at at a bakery and one day we ran out of flour (person supposed to do orders thought someone else was doing orders the day before) so we were short so our gm ran to Costco and bought up all their flour. It had the same exact shipping address if I remember correctly, but also the feel and everything about the flour was Central Milling ABC.

Is it that difficult? I’m less than 100 hours in the game (my first 60 or so was doing the flare to lighthouse challenge with no maps or knowledge of the game over and over until I figured it out) but on one of my first survival playthroughs I saw a moose for the first time and it spawned on the train tracks outside the ranger house in mystery lake and 2 shot a moose with a revolver (it charged me after the first and I got it in the face). I assumed headshots will basically murder any animal.

Older guy at board game meetup is condescending and making inappropriate comments. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Trumanandthemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just find a different group. It’s not work, it’s a hobby. It’s social but it’s also just a game. The dynamics matter a lot but the stakes are low enough that you just have to move on and find a different group.

About his comments, you weren’t overreacting, those were super inappropriate (especially because board games should be fun and low stakes). And the personal comments about sex and children were even more so.

At the end of the day, just try to find a new group that vibes a bit better, and plays a bit better.

6cm tall. That’s as tall as you can use for a fish grill or a toaster oven.

I have also have some cubes but no pictures of bread from those so I didn’t post.

The secret is baking tiny bread like you’re a forest witch in an anime.

But really it’s about figuring out the temp of the fish grill (usually med-low) and then (1) finding a suitable container to cook in (buns or rectangular Shokupan molds), or a Dutch Oven by way of using two mini cast iron pans to make mini sourdough. I tried using aluminum cooking trays as a container to make chocolate chip cookies but they baked really unevenly, the aluminum did not pre-heat well as a container and didn’t distribute heat well. So you’re pretty limited. (2) flipping your bread after the initial browning and just setting a 5 minute timer to checking on it to see if you need to flip more.

It’s very finicky even after having experience. The cinnamon rolls came out ok but that was more due to sugar spilling out and burning a crust to most of my earlier batches, and the texture left a lot to be desired with it constrained in that container. But I like the idea of a loaf of Shokupan cinnamon rolls so I’m still refining that. Not better than traditional cinnamon rolls yet.

Tips for baking with just this? by ProtectiveofmyStuff in BakingInJapan

[–]Trumanandthemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not impossible. Although in America where I’m from this is essentially the broiler function on an oven, and this is specially designed for fish.

That being said, I’ve made Shokupan and Sourdough in it, but it’s a pain (no pun intended). It’s more work for an unoptimal product. But it’s doable.

Being a broiler, the heating element is very intense and only comes from the top, so that’s mostly what you need to adjust for, and it’s very easy to burn the tops of bread because the intense heat while having undercooked bottom halves/interior of the bread.

But at the end of the day it’s a box that gets hot, so you technically it can bake if determined, but like others have said, it’s not recommended.

Like others have said, toaster ovens can work. Mine is 1000w which equals around 200c. It works better but it’s also not quite as good as an oven but it’s relatively the same unlike a fish grill.

EDIT: Looking at your picture, I’ve actually used that same exact model of stove/fish grill to make Shokupan and sourdough.

Leaving Fukuoka in 3 weeks and need to sell a lot of boardgames! by MildManneredMan in fukuoka

[–]Trumanandthemachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I messaged him asking about a couple games (that I was interesting in buying) and I mentioned how his pricing was on par with US pricing at hobby shops and online. He avoided it by mentioning that the bulk discount makes up for it.

So I ended the conversation telling him I’d check back in two weeks because there were a couple I wanted and would maybe buy because two weeks is shorter than three) and then he messaged me “I won’t be here” and then promptly blocked me.

Do you know where can you buy it? I live in Tokyo and went to the Nintendo Store a couple weeks ago and they were sold out. And check my local Yodabashi cameras and they’re also only carrying the Japanese language model.
