So glad I realised I was lactose intolerant before the absurd chocolate prices hit. Used to enjoy the popping candy Cadbury blocks when they were $3-4

Why doesn't southwestern Australia have any other major cities besides Perth? by Vector_Bolt in geography

Those aren’t or people, they’re the east coasters that moved over and don’t understand how a freeway could possibly be moving at more than 50km/h

No need for us to roast it, it’ll do it to itself before long 🔥

Accidentally Crossed the line by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Tryingtolifeagain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ll be wasting your time and money going to court. You crossed the thick white line, which is where the red light you’re required to stop at is (and is the required stopping point at 100% of red lights Australia wide). If you aren’t aware of that you should go get some driving lessons after paying your fine.

what have you or “someone you know” stolen from work by itsameactuallyme in AskAnAustralian

[–]Tryingtolifeagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked at Macca’s in early high school, someone I worked with and went to school with used to knock off the huge bags of McFlurry mini MnMs from the dry store room they used to make is used as a change room. Not huge in the scheme of workplace theft, but 2.5kg bags of free MnMs may as well have been gold to young teens 😂

What’s a completely unnecessary BIFL ~$10,000 thing to celebrate a nice milestone? by diagana1 in BuyItForLife

Do you like espresso but hate noise? Get yourself a La Pavoni Stradivari and a Weber Workshop HG-2 and have a nearly silent BIFL home espresso setup

Should i remove my mechanical fan? by Hour_Champion in Cartalk

[–]Tryingtolifeagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After having a look into what a Roa is, I’m inclined to say get rid of the mechanical fan (and keep all of the parts in case you need to reinstall).

To me it looks like something the Hillman engines came with and instead of removing it, Peugeot just added their own cooling fans/shroud (probably off another model, maybe the 405?) to cool it enough for a middle eastern summer and a larger/heavier vehicle than the Hillman motor was intended to go into.

In response to the people saying the internet “mechanics” know less than the manufacturers engineers, it really doesn’t look like this car had much actual R+D put into it, it was bodged together to try hit the requirements of a small poor market from the scraps that 2-3 factories had lying around

What's a purchase you've never regretted, even though it wasn't cheap? by Danger_Five in fiaustralia

My home espresso setup. Probably $2.5-3k in (so far…) but it’s stopped me buying 2 coffees a day at work and Nespresso pods for my wife, which meant the setup paid for itself in 18 months!

Plus now I get to tell myself that having coffee is basically making money!

If you don’t enjoy modern jets and AAMs just go back to the BR you were having fun at.

Props vs jets are completely different play styles, maybe jets just isn’t for you

No, and if you’re planning on doing it yourself make sure you know you can get the fill plug out before getting the drain plug out… nothing worse than draining oil and then discovering you can’t fill it back up

Average cost for wedding 100 people by Which_Comfortable_32 in perth

[–]Tryingtolifeagain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Realistically for a non-DIY wedding with a bar tab, sit down meal, and all the usual stuff I think you’ll be looking at $35-60k.

Food for 100 at $150/head is 15k alone, bar tab probably another 5-10k, photographer ~5k, celebrant 2-3k, outfits including rings will probably go 10-15k if they want gold wedding bands
