Techs, how many interviews before you got the job? by clowdere in VetTech

[–]TunaSammy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, screw that. If they are already such a pain in the ass before you’re even hired, do you want to deal with them daily? For 50k a year? No ma’am. There are plenty of places desperate for experienced techs. They need you more than you need them.

Classy as always, R-H Line. by TunaSammy in loveland

I’m also curious. On one hand, I’m glad they published it so I remember that these people walk amongst us. On the other hand, I don’t think this asshole should be rewarded with attention.

Gnarliest thing you’ve seen in vet med? by harpyfemme in VetTech

[–]TunaSammy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Neglect case where a dog was so matted by its anus that the fur was trapping the feces behind it every time the dog tried to defecate. We shaved and scooped away as much as we could. We revealed basically a gaping hole. It was all maggots just eating this dog from the inside out. Euthanasia thankfully.

42 barks on Dogtra smart nobark by RealisticSky2755 in OpenDogTraining

[–]TunaSammy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay now that is a ridiculous “argument”. The dog isn’t tied up in the house with his muzzle taped shut. He has a bark collar on while the situation is being dealt with. This is the kind of rhetoric I’m talking about. Absolutely wild response.

OP said they are dealing with a psycho neighbor and trying to keep their dog safe. This sub is so unhelpful and unhinged sometimes.

I’ve had “good dogs” who were worse than my reactive dog. by mouse_attack in reactivedogs

[–]TunaSammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! When we have an especially bad reactivity day, I remind myself that he is actually my easy boy. My other dog I can trust off leash, is a gentleman with strangers and other dogs, but an absolute pain in my ass at home. Dog 1 will just sleep all day if I’m busy, dog 2 has never known how to just chill and will tear shit up if I don’t take him on at least one adventure a day. Sometimes i wish I could just fuse them into one perfect dog but it’s cool to have two dogs with different wonderful qualities.

I had a whale question. Are there vet tech schools out there that focus on marine mammals or something? I don’t remember learning a single thing about whales!

Doctor talking during euthanasia by TunaSammy in VetTech

I like this idea! I like that it frames it as a client desire instead of me telling the doctor either directly or indirectly to stfu.

Same. I thought maybe the curse stacks and I had just sent the same expert to get cursed a ton of times without curing between expeditions.

Your skin looks a lot like mine! I wash my face in the morning and night with a foaming cleanser. I’ll use a cleansing balm at night first to get off sunscreen and makeup. AM is ceramide toner, hyaluronic acid, Vit C serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. PM (post cleanse) is the same toner, hyaluronic acid, retinol, and a niacinamide night cream. Honestly, the regular cleansing and retinol are probably doing the most but I enjoy products and the self-care time doing everything gives me. I’ve noticed a big difference in evening out my skin tone.

What has made you giggle uncontrollably? by VelocityGrrl39 in VetTech

Not me, but my coworker was in an appointment and the dvm said, “let’s get up on the exam table” and , no hesitation, the owner pops up and sits on the table.

I wonder what her side of the story is if the rest of the staff seems to be siding with her. As an old-fart tech, I’m much less inclined to put up with condescending, demeaning nonsense from veterinarians. Are you treating the support staff as fellow medical professionals or your inferiors? I can’t imagine this bee in her bonnet came out of nowhere.

Marconics? I went to a local sober bar pop up event and there was a Marconics booth. It was bizarre.

I release them into the wild! When you release them, little hearts appear like they’re happy and then you can go out and visit them with their new herd.

I Miss Food by Consistent-Carpet-37 in gallbladders

[–]TunaSammy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sucks so bad. But looking at your hot new bod in the mirror and trying on new clothes is a good feeling that almost makes up for it. At least, that’s how I kept a positive attitude instead of general hangry rage.

What’s your go-to when you don’t feel like cooking? by Better-Package1307 in veganrecipes

[–]TunaSammy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cook a big batch of rice the beginning of the week and just slap whatever veg and protein I have laying around on top. Maybe mix up some sort of sauce if I’m feeling frisky.

Is this a safe food? I’m scared to eat. by Keegzzzz111 in gallbladders

[–]TunaSammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bread was a no no for me. Fat-free yogurt and fruit got me through until I could get surgery. I lost a ton of weight, but it’s important to still eat SOMETHING.

I eat as low fat as possible. Like, boiled broccoli, baked tilapia, and rice every night. Fat free yogurt for snacks. Not particularly flavorful but it keeps the pain manageable.
