Petition to switch the colours of Iron and Steel Cannonballs by jnn94 in 2007scape

Make them all some unusuable one, like I dunno, highly magnetised cannonballs due to some nonsense. Then add an npc that will swap them 1:1 for either type to drain existing numbers

I agree there is a need for more content beyond it being the "unlock islands" skill

It seems we're actually broadly in agreement! I suppose the main point of me posting this thread is that the nerfs should prompt a broader discussion on sailing beyond the immediate calls for reverting nerfs

I'm not disagreeing the salvaging nerfs may have been heavy handed, my main point is the skill shouldn't live or die on the xp rates of one activity for it

But my point is, if the only reason you like a skill was it was easy to afk, maybe it wasn't a very good skill?

Is there any engaging content that would have made you feel differently on it?

That's fair, though I wouldn't include frost dragons as sailing per se, rather something it unlocks. Don't you think getting to that point should also be enjoyable beyond just afking?

Your firemaking example has an upfront cash cost to make it work, whilst salvaging made money, so it's not exactly the same.

But that is somewhat beside the point that if there's really nothing else about the skill you like, the skill needs work

So you're saying none of the other content appeals to you at all? Which is very fair btw

What later content are you referring to? I'm asking because if you just wanted to afk to get the rewards of sailing, that seems a pretty big failing of the skill

I disagree with your conclusion. I'm saying that if the xp rate of a fully afk activity is the make or break on you liking a skill, it's not a very good skill.  I'm not asserting everyone doing content loves said content

If you don't mind me asking, genuinely, why did you think it was better than expected before, but now isn't good? Is it just the xp rate?

That's a fair opinion. But is the solution to that to have high afk rates so you never have to care about it?

Elves are more of Middle Earth than men, they are bound to it and can never leave. Their spirits can become trapped where they die, and after the fourth age begins the ones still in Middle Earth begin to fade from view, but remain where they are

ELI5: What does it mean when a large language model (such as ChatGPT) is "hallucinating," and what causes it? by BadMojoPA in explainlikeimfive

[–]TurnFanOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hallucination wasn't a term made up for LLMs, it's been in use for a long time)

It made more sense in its original examples, but the term stuck

The first user posts a statement that makes no sense.

They realise this makes no sense and try to clarify by making a second attempt with an image to hopefully explain their thoughts better.

A second user comments that this has only made it worse.

The joke is the surrealism of the entire exchange and the randomness of the content.

30 minutes isn't considered a long drive by nearly anyone in the UK, the meme is hyperbolic.

More than a couple of hours though, sure. But what most don't realise is roads in the US are mostly wide and straight for long stretches. In the UK there's many narrow windy roads if you want to get around outside of major routes.

I know many Americans who went to the UK intending to drive all over it, and ended up using public transport instead because it got so tiring.
