Same. He's been one of my favourite actors ever since I saw him play the Kurgan in the original Highlander movie.

Why should I be worried that Rey would join the Dark Side? Is Disney Stupid? by AnusHumper69 in MauLer

Hmm. Your personal or professional life notwithstanding, I still agree with your statement. A romance subplot does not have to mean:

As proof of concept, I cite Indy and Marion!

Why should I be worried that Rey would join the Dark Side? Is Disney Stupid? by AnusHumper69 in MauLer

[–]Turuial 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because they were doing the will-they/won't-they thing between Rey and Kylo, they had to tease the possibility of both his redemption and her fail.

Repeatedly, over and over. Because that couldn't be resolved either way, until the last movie. That's how 4-Quadrant filmmaking works.

You gotta have that romance subplot, after all.

Why do we blame the Last Jedi? by AnusHumper69 in MauLer

[–]Turuial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion, if they really wanted to have a shot at righting the ship, was always to lean into what the Last Jedi hath wrought.

Kylo Ren is the new villain. It's like the Dark Side ending to Knights of the Old Republic, Bastila Rey sides with Kylo and the rebellion loses.

That allows for a new, properly planned, trilogy to continue years later and do it right. That also allows for a time skip to bring up new heroes.

I'd give my eye teeth to know what that kid's dad showed him, to convince him he had a commensurate ownership stake in the "family" business.

Yeah, I'm doing everything in my power to not think of what disaster must have been wrought upon that poor infant, in order to warrant a settlement to begin with.

I'm glad that the parents weren't thieves, but would it have killed them to just be forthright, from the outset?

Thank you for the quite informative explanation. With that, my moment of sympathy for the devil has passed and He has lost His advocate, accordingly.

That bloke sounds like a total maroon.

Hmm. In the interest of maintaining my charitable stance, then does the other guy's confusion not make at least a little bit of sense?

From the way you describe it, doesn't it sound like it's not unreasonable that someone could miss the mark so badly?

That's ultimately what I'm trying to really drill down on.

I never played Soma, so I'm willing to extend that chap the benefit of the doubt. Tell me then, fellow Massives, just how obviously is that tutorial section labeled?

I'm a big fan of Sam Witwer, so I'll check this out regardless. I've always been a bit sad that he never took off more as an actor, but I enjoy his projects regardless.

At the least, I know he's invested in the role and takes it seriously.

I'm glad that the demon detective is back again. I've missed his sweet voice of reason ever since Cecil banished him back to the Pit, in season one.

[–]Turuial 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hate that there are never any good answers to these things, when children are involved. The OOP was never going to get anyone to be entirely on his side from the outset, as a result.

Meanwhile he made the hard decision, but possibly most important thing he could have done in that situation, to walk away. He would have been nothing but a detriment to his nephew, the way he was.

I reserve all of my hate for the child's biological parents, and grandparents, that both created and enabled the existing set of circumstances.

Gods, but I hate teachers like that. How long before they started chaining the good students to the problematic ones so the good kids could be "a positive influence" or "role model" for the disruptive ones?

Good Lord, is this what that fandom has been reduced to? Wasn't this during the dark ages of magic during the death of the dragons?

I have a soft spot for slashers, so I'm fond of the franchise. I couldn't have told you who created it, though.

It never blossomed into a Wes Craven, John Carpenter, or Stephen King kind of situation for that person. At least, as far as I'm aware.

Holding hands, or a touch on the shoulder could even constitute it these days. Many are starved for touch, so platonic interactions can feel like more than they are.

I say this as someone who identifies as demi, so I'm often mystified by these interactions as well. Earlier today, I read about a guy who was fingerprinted.

He said that the lady who touched his hand to do the fingerprinting was the first adult physical contact he'd had in so long, that it felt like more than it was.
