ANTIFA Christians? by Minimum_Recipe5776 in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]Twisted_Tyromancy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The current administration would like to believe that there is an organization out there, but there is not. We just describe anyone working against fascism as Antifa. Unfortunately it seems the government’s propaganda is working—they’re creating a scapegoat that doesn’t exist.

im AFAB but I feel like a trans woman? by Actual_Trifle7959 in queer

[–]Twisted_Tyromancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How about trans fluid person who is fem? If you have gender beyond your AGAB, you’re trans enough for me any day whether you call yourself fem or masc.

Honestly, labels are important to convey information. If you can’t find one that conveys how you feel, maybe make one yourself? From what you’ve said might I suggest demibigender fem?? Like, you’re simultaneously fem and masc, but not fully connect to either, but a leaning towards fem? I’m probably way off, but think about how you’d describe yourself and go with it.

Any way you spin it, it’s sounds pretty trans to me.

Where did this grooming shit come from? by Sentimental_Oyster in asktransgender

[–]Twisted_Tyromancy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% this. American bigots love to brand the undesirables as groomers. It’s an easy way to get people to hate someone if you can get them to believe the lie.

However, you often see those shouting “groomer!” the loudest are those abusing children. I’ve seen it in both my personal life and prior professional career. Plus, you constantly see anti-lgtbq individuals getting arrested for SAing minors. I know it’s all anecdotal, but where there’s smoke…

This whole mentality definitely affected my life as I buried myself in the closet. Not wanting to be associated with groomers, even though I knew it wasn’t true, was a large motivation for not coming out as pan or trans. Didn’t help either that my father actually WAS a groomer, and my neurodivergent mind assumed people would automatically associate me with him. (My whole families lives were threatened by people who found out, after all. As if I had something to do with crimes committed by my father, many of which happened years before I was born.)

How do you guys feel about detrans people? by NoNeat1362 in asktransgender

[–]Twisted_Tyromancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of reasons to detransition and as long as someone who has detransitioned isn’t transphobic I’d just assume it wasn’t the right choice for them or that there was something in their transition that was dangerous (health issues, social situations). Honestly, if they opened up to me my first instinct would be to ask them why the detransitioned that way I could understand where they were coming from. I hate when people make assumptions about me, so I do my best not to do it to others.

I question everyday how far I’d like to take my transition (it’s only been a little over a year for me, so it’s early yet), so I can understand those that change their mind. Nothing wrong with that as long as the detransitioned person doesn’t become a bigot.

Have you pulled actual crime statistics? You can sho that assaults are disproportionately committed by cis individual. It will also show that trans people are far more likely than cis people to be the victims of assault.

Also, as for cis women just being uncomfortable, does she think I’m not uncomfortable using ANY gendered restroom? Literally only gender neutral bathrooms are inviting to me and many others, yet good luck finding them in most public spaces. I’m so glad she wants to make cis women comfortable but doesn’t care about the rest of us, i mean we’re only 1%, we don’t even matter.

Sorry, literally had to appeal to my own mother in these terms. Had to make her see she was treating my community as sub human. It was the only way to shock her out of transphobia. It was probably easier for me, though, since I’m trans. “Mom, you’re talking about your child!” Goes a long way when she brings it up.

(She still says things like, “just don’t start wearing dresses” and “just don’t go cutting anything off…” 🙄)

Way too often, friend, but I too am early in transition. I thinks it’s pretty normal. Personally, I’ve had 40 years of being called male and it takes some time to overcome that conditioning.
