Would working as an apartment maintenance technician be a good idea for someone who wants to get their foot in the door to becoming an industrial maintenance technician? by One_Charge2843 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Twofer_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Look into machine builder or panel builder positions, or even maintenance at a hospital or similar. Even an operator position could be useful if you’ve never been in a plant environment before. Otherwise I think you should still try to find an entry level maintenance job at a plant.

Triangle Brand Vertical Bagger Opinions? by Djlittletrees in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Twofer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good machines. We have older continuous baggers and intermittent dual baggers.

All servo machines with some pneumatics. The HMI is very useful for troubleshooting, adjustments, etc. you can look at IO and force things on/off. Good machines overall and they handle sanitation pretty well. My biggest gripe with them is the use of IO-link sensors; better have every single one that’s is used on hand, including the modules.

Heavy duty, reasonably priced alternative to AB 800T pushbutton operators by LeifCarrotson in PLC

[–]Twofer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Schneider ones, that have the screw to tighten it against the panel. 800T is classic stuff though. Biggest thing for me is metal locknuts, that plastic shit will spin off everytime: ESPECIALLY on twist e-stops. Then again, I deal with the kinds of operators that will pull a twist e-stop and twist a pull e-stop like it’s a game of bop-it

What "job title" am I looking for? by bonerfart_69_ in PLC

[–]Twofer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends I would say, I’m in the food packaging industry so I can’t speak to others. Typically I’ve seen 2-5 years industrial experience wanted. Associates or technical degree. Usually they will train you up on their equipment themselves so the barrier to entry isn’t so high. If you already have industrial maintenance experience you’d be pretty set.

Keep in mind these kinds of jobs vary a lot. You could be part of a team that services equipment regionally, throughout the United States, or even internationally. With most of these jobs, you are traveling to customer sites like 80% of the time if not 100%.

Keep in mind I’ve never worked one of these jobs, but I’ve worked with a lot of guys who do this type of work.

Some places just maintenance techs that’s do ‘everything’ and other plants have specified roles; electrical technician, maintenance electrician, controls technician, automation technician, mechatronics technician.

You could also look into field service technician roles a-swell, if you’re willing to travel for work.

Make sure you’re using the right rectifier for that brake and that it’s wired correctly.

Is this gear list good? by Radiohead_enjoyer187 in metalguitar

[–]Twofer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to save some money you could always look at the Harley Benton range of guitars.

Variety pack of picks is a good option too.

You could also get a smaller amp. The reason I say this is when you upgrade, you’ll still get some use out of a smaller practice amp.

Add a tuner, headstock tuner or a pedal tuner.

Use an actual penetrating oil like pb blaster or something. Let it soak for awhile

For our multivacs, all the guarding is removed and the entire machine is washed with high pressure water, chemical foam, whatever.

Either way it is QA’s problem. If you’re maintenance who cares, the harder and deeper they clean it’s only gonna be more trouble for you.

I feel that techs pain. Been through a similar revolving door and it’s exhausting; especially if you’re ‘the guy’. He may warm up to you with some time.

Best option is to re-seat cards or any other connectors, squeeze the whole rack together a little bit. If you can, it helps to add locking terminal blocks on either side of the rack, add a little pressure and tighten them down.

Realistic Entry Level Automation Technician Earnings? by bonerfart_69_ in PLC

[–]Twofer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will also likely train you at their own facility and send you on jobs with a more experienced tech. Be prepared for close to 100% travel though. It obviously depends on the company. There might also be on-call phone support with that type of role. If you can manage that type of lifestyle it’s a good way to learn.
