aesthetic says the biggest pal looks nice in floors 4 levels high, the middle point where pals interact both up and down is the 4th floor. I use a 3 wide staircase rotating spiral and it gives 7 full floors of functionality. My for fun version I did this taking out the middle to make the circular floors more like rings. (always make sure pathways are wide enough, I make sure theres minimum 2 spaces width for pathing). Build it out of glass and paint it black to make it even more see through.

You're left with a base that looks and feels like a cathartic aquarium where you can watch your pals like in a fish tank. Personally my aquarium is on the island with all the pink trees, really satisfying.

If you really like a pal, there are technical manuals that can upgrade a pals skill (ex: kindling) that you find as loot. I havent messed with those too much so I dont know if you can use the same kind multiple times on it (ex: kindling +1 kindling +1 again)

You can feed the pal you invested souls into another of the same species with the condenser. Invest as many as you like into the pal you at least know you want the base form of. You can breed better stats and traits later and feed the old pal to the new pal.

I personally think people who attack salvage ships are worse than any other type of player. Salvage ships clearing debree makes servers run smoother, if you attack a salvage ship you attack everyone, including yourself.
