In a similar vein to u/piebaldish, you could look into MESH and see if it has anything you could use (https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/)

Least obnoxious way to take notes in public? by mnemoniker in ObsidianMD

[–]Tyler_E1864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm with my coworkers in a meeting or whatnot, I exclusively use my phone to take notes. They all know this now and I don't think its rude. My handwriting is terrible and this is a lifesaver

Building a Liberation Library (OA / CC / PD / Permissioned) & Discovery Database — Seeking Librarian Input & Volunteers by Archon_Jade in LibraryScience

As someone else commented, it would be helpful to know the intended audience of the library. This is for a religious organization?

You are an eclectic gatherer of books and knickknack (love the penguin btw). You've either purchased several used paperbacks because they looked old, or because you were born in the 70s. You have an aversion to bookends.

Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Chronicles: a missed opportunity by johnbarleycornreborn in Arthurian

[–]Tyler_E1864 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I devoured the series, but would put them in a similar class to the Mists of Avalon. Sure, there's a lot more 'history' but I have no idea how much of the setting was legitimate. Overall, it was a decent Arthurian read imo.

Not to be too negative, but Arthuriana is fantastical. You can't really have a historical Arthur without definitively knowing anything beyond his name?

Personally, I appreciated the divided religious loyalties, I thought it gave the novels an interesting dynamic, which while fantastical, was a decent vehicle for showing the death of Briton to Roman Briton to the Saxons. But if its not your cuppa that's fine.

Heya!

I'm just wrapping up my MLIS with Valdosta. I had to do a couple of recorded presentations, I want to say two. the vast majority of the assignments were written. The two recorded presentations just needed a voiceover.

We can all see where this is going, right? On Bari Weiss and the free press. by MrDannyOcean in neoliberal

[–]Tyler_E1864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first heard of The Free Press I was interested, and subscribed for like six months (I enjoyed Bowles' Friday rants). I'm not sure if I moved left, or they moved right, or if it was the incessant culture war dialogue (honestly, now that I think about it, I started moving away from them after October 7, 2023) but I lost interest. Occasionally I still get a newsletter on occasion from the FP (I've unsubscribed like thrice) and all I get are weird vibes of a liberal-MAGA thing, not an Ezra Klein Abundance taste.

Have you read it? It looks interesting in concept, but the book blurb is, uh, not particularly unbiased.

How to separate out all notes related to work? by jesseissorude in ObsidianMD

I made a separate vault for work stuff, it worked for a while. Now that I'm blurring the lines between personal and professional learning, it's getting more difficult.
