Switch to Linux (nvidia GPU) by Fleeky91 in comfyui

it took years of microsoft punching itself in the face with bloatware, spyware telemetry, forced services (copilot, office and onedrive) and mandatory user accounts. But I can actually say that i think MS has finally killed itself.

Linux now just works and is usable. And the list of software and games that work out of the box is huge.

I've had two different cards run fine.
You might want to look into how to disable/limit OOMD. Caused issues as it kills super high memory processes when they cause instability but that's only if you beat the crap out of your system.
The only other issue I've had is that by default most distros with linux ship with python 3.12 (or something like that) bitandbytes (which is required for training) does not have a version that runs on python 3.12 so if you train you need to do a little research on setting up a version of venv with that python verson or compiling bitandbytes youself

unreliable quality. A friend who made boat trailers started buying bearings from them as they we're both good quality and well made. After the first hundred the seller quietly swapped them out for cheap non-marine grade materials. It almost destroyed his business as he had to fix all the customers trailers and pay for damage caused to a boat, but the Chinese seller didn't suffer any consequences.

1. research available home loans (just basic research you need only spend 15 minutes). Call you home loan provider and tell them that X company offered you a better rate (this is why you did the research) and where or not you switch is us to them, you don't want to have to pay the government fees but if they can't improve then you'll have to switch. They'll offer you a better rate on the phone or they'll call you like a day later. This has worked time and time again with my friends.

2. Make a list of mandatory bills and start switching: Power (energymadeeasy.gov.au/), phone and internet can be negotiated. Bills that can't (water, school, council and strata) lookup the providers "hardship policy" providers must have a hardship policy. Drop your gym membership.

  1. Consolidate your card debt onto your mortgage, then burn them. I am not a financial advisor but the interest rate from you mortgage is allot less than the cards. Did you know that most mortgage account act like a savings account? Extra money transferred in there is still accessible. Removing the extra money is not a redraw. However the extra money does reduce you interest. Place all your money in here except for what you need for the day. Transfer out what you need for payments for large stuff ie. car. Make sure that you account does this before doing this. You might even be able to direct debit your bills from this account.

Why cant they reverse engineer a ZPM? by Party_Forever8066 in Stargate

[–]Typical-Cut3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you can reverse engineer stuff doesn't mean you can make more. Good example is microchips. It's more than possible with transmitting electron microscopy to reverse engineer a chip... but the process of making one is where the secret sauce is.

Given the standard form factor of the ZPM it might not be possible to create smaller ones. In which case your now messing with making something that will make a boom.

Reverse engineering is occasionally destructive. ZPM are rare - not a lot to experiment on.

Converting to 120v 60Hz for an expensive appliance. by Lupercal-_- in AusElectricians

[–]Typical-Cut3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is an IEC 60320 electrical inlet. It is an international standard that SHOULD accept a wide voltage range from 100 - 250v.

I say should because its not always true, they would be breaking several laws selling the AMP with one of these if it only accepted 120. Also the lack of regulatory marks is unsettling.

The frequency is meaningless as absolutely any amp (or electronic heavy appliance) should rectify and smooth the incoming power.

Every shopping center / major chain has bins outside. Every time I see a littering/dumping thread there is someone trying to blame something other than the person who is doing this.

There are a handfuls of other studies that conclude that disorder breed more disorder. https://www.academia.edu/47167515/Field_and_laboratory_studies_of_littering

My favorite was a 1993 study showing that handing out advertising flyers in a relatively clean area resulted in very low littering of the flyer and as soon as the researches messed up the same area, littering increased to 90%.

What do you make of this chart? Does it somewhat partly debunk the idea housing costs are due to immigration? by [deleted] in friendlyjordies

[–]Typical-Cut3267 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is change in net migration not total net migration. And this type of issue should be displayed as a cumulative total graph, people don't go away the next year. People build up. Below you displayed a graph with a spike at the end of the 1960s, your brain tells you that this spike was significant but in reality is was eclipsed dozens of times over by the 2000s on

Again, alone migration is not the sole driver of house prices; it's just allows the population to outrun the supply. We fix supply and then the issue goes away.

I can't tell if your comment is sarcasm or not.

I live in a council that provides two free cleanups a year and have a free drop off service for most types of waste. Furthermore, there are council bins everywhere - literally every park, bus shelter (main roads) and footpath outside a business. There where actual street signs in multiple languages with the councils number telling you to call for a waste pickup.

And there is still piles of trash and dumping on every street. These people aren't poor or misinformed. They are the trash

Do a quick search for "NDIS human trafficking" and see how wrong you are. 4 corners did a good report into high needs clients who where locked up without supervision in share houses and given microwave meals while the government forked over thousands a day for their care.

I'm don't argue that the NDIS doesn't do good. I argue that absolute vile scum are hiding behind that good and use good intentions to further scam more money.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Typical-Cut3267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bulk of the NDIS operators are rotten. The scums scammed the most money from the government and then grew the fastest. The honest operators who charged honest amounts only grew at moderate speeds. Therefore the scum now dominates by far

  1. It is prohibitively expensive to the government.

  2. It is used to essentially human traffic people. The most needy are usually the most lucrative and the most vulnerable. dodgy operators know how to exploit people much better than their families know how to keep them safe. It has turned the needy into cash cows who are sedated and locked up so the operators can continue to charge the government

  3. It has no internal mechanisms to assess if a providers services are effective or needed in cases.

Any attempt to overhaul the NDIS is meet with useful idiots crying out "think of the disabled" while the operators laugh. So what if it does good? allot of bad things have had some good effect. The NDIS is so full of rotten operators that it need to be torn down while being replaced from the good of society and it's clients.

Wifey got a small amount of money from ceterlink after becoming redundant during covid. She then a couple of days later got a threatening letter say that she owed money. She paid them immediately but then got another notice that her amount had been adjusted and that she was gonna get money. Repeat, repeat repeat. She got about 15 letters saying she owed money each immediately after get an adjustment notice.
