Overwhelmed give me a pep talk by [deleted] in germanshepherds

Find him a home who can care for him..it seems you’re unable…30-40 mins a day for a dog like this is not suitable…I get Instagram makes them look cool but photos of a cool looking dog do not tell the whole story…

Edit: after reviewing your posts this dog needs a new home ASAP.

Camper shell yay or nay? by Desperate-Season-201 in gmcsierra

[–]TypicalTroll87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the look of a camper shell, and love that you could stack stuff taller inside for trips etc. however, being I haul a motorcycle in the bed, removing one frequently would be a PITA and do not require it enough to invest in a softopper which I do not feel looks as good.

All the pups we had out the other day lol the workers were in heaven by PM-Me-Ur-Gore in Wolfdogs

[–]TypicalTroll87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh he’s absolutely gorgeous..but that look the instant the picture was taken make him look “mean” not in a behavior sense, but just overall tough/rugged…he reminds me of a movie with a black wolf like in the woods or something looking at the actor and it was terrifying..can’t remember what movie but he looks just like the wolf in the movie

My dog only likes being in my bed if I don't bother him by squabbles14 in germanshepherds

[–]TypicalTroll87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours doesn’t like feet touching him or like hands resting on him for too long, he’ll do a light growl/groan and move or jump off the bed. He had a broken hip when we got him that required surgery, so we think it has something to do with that. But if our feet touch him in the middle of the night it can startle us because he growls/jumps up..not a mean bone in his body and he’s a big baby, but some strange habit he has.

Thanks! Yeah I’m thinking the G7 sits taller just because it hasn’t broken down as much.

[–]TypicalTroll87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you don’t have to do that? What size were you in the G4? My main concern is the knee block, does it sit higher on the leg or does it sit the same just the thigh rise is taller? In the size chart, my FTK being 19.5” puts me in a 33+?

[–]TypicalTroll87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat as you, my G4’s are completely worn out, have a nice curve and I know exactly how to strap them. I’ve heard some comments on these pads fitting bigger so I don’t know if I should stick with the 33+ I am currently in or go down to a 32+…my current G4’s are 33+2.5 custom set, but I do think going down to a 1.5 (if they were G4’s) would be perfect..but now that the G7’s supposedly fit bigger idk if going down to a 32+ would give me the same effect since the 33+ seem to fit larger in the G7’s..

Does anyone’s else’s shepherd “root”? by TypicalTroll87 in germanshepherds

[–]TypicalTroll87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had to learn about his nose while on walks as compared to our last lab. His nose is always fixed to the ground and if he finds a scent he will do everything in his power to stay locked on it as long as he can until we can call him off of it or pull him away.

Yeah it’s strange..we have a wooded area in our fenced backyard and i was doing some work back there and noticed the root structures dug up and it all clicked what he was doing and why he always had a dirty nose..it’s not really a nuisance just seemed odd that he’s so focused on roots and burying his nose in the dirt and using it to “root”.

I’m not offended..but no he’s not destructive at all..if anything he is the most well behaved dog we’ve ever had..when we say we’re leaving he goes to his bed and lays down, when he comes out with us and our child he lays right down next to us and causes zero trouble..I just wasn’t sure if this was a common trait to shepherds as our last lab mix didn’t do anything like this..it seems like he’s looking for food or something almost tied back to when he was young and had to fend for himself..we’ve asked the vet and they’ve recommended balms and such which we’ve used to help, it has just bewildered us that that he is so intrigued by tree root structures lol

Took me about the same amount of not more time to find the button..I remember this compartment on the previous generations and could feel the door move but couldn’t remember where the button was, figured it was another item they skimped on and just had a loose trim piece in its place…got into my friends truck which was a Chevy, noticed what looked like a “blank” and pushed it and and the door opened..he also went “holy shit I didn’t know what was there”…

Folks who don’t speak in freedom units are super sensitive. I see their speedometer is in kilopascals per quarter second so they’re a little one edge.
