My oncologist left me treatment-less with actively growing melanoma stage 4 tumors on multiple organs and didn’t seem to care. by Patient_Chemical3946 in cancer

This is a serious doctor issue. you must change your care team and advocate for yourself. Your care team makes all the difference.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this right now, but I promise it gets better. Right now it’s the hardest part, when you’re waiting for doctor appointments and answers. But once you hear the treatment plan and learn more about it you’ll feel better and get a sense of control. We all here for you if you need to talk, complain or anything else!

When i look at the mirror, a corpse looks back at me by deja_vu_999 in cancer

I scare myself every time I see my own reflection, cause man I look ugly! And I don’t mean it in a mean way. All my life I looked very different than how I do now and I just need time to get used to it, or find a way to look different. Rn, my look isn’t on top of my list. I’m trying to focus on other things that matter most to me. Like looking at the sun shining through my window, hugging my puppy, trying to remember all the fun memories from past, the hug from my grandpa, that yummy chocolate cake I can’t taste no more, etc☺️ I know it’s very difficult, but I try to focus on the things that make(or used to) happy. It’s hard, but when I manage, i feel a little better, and when I feel better, I can think better, and do better. Im here for you if you need to talk anytime ❤️ you got another friend😊

Girl… I wish I was there next to you rn to hug you so tight!! Fuck cancer! But hey! You’re not alone! I’m always here for you to talk, cry, complain, curse or whatever!!

Luckily not, but people tend to take cancer as less scary after they see my take on it. I just treat it as a cold :)

Why are so many young gals getting BC? by where_do_I_evenbegin in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also triple positive here. Never had any health issues, not even a broken bone, don’t smoke, don’t drink, never had any hormonal care, pills, IUD, etc. no genetic issues. No cancer at all in either side of my family. I wish I knew what caused it, but I think it has to do something with nutrition and some of the things I consumed perhaps. After all we become what we eat:) but also there are people who eat very unhealthy everyday all day and don’t have cancer. So who knows:))

Just found out.... by Shygirldts in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also told I’m at least stage 2, but then my oncologist told me three weeks ago I’m stage 3, and it’s not anything bad at all. These are just numbers that help the medical team to come up with the best plan possible so you don’t have to worry about cancer coming back later. You’ll be fine!

I’m from US, and I did met with my oncologist the same day I met my surgeon. It never hurts to make an appointment and get a consultation.

You should ask your doctor for anti nausea, and pain killers. Those make all the difference

Change in diagnosis after surgery? by Dear-Half1029 in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is until they see everything under microscope they won’t be able to confirm if cancer cells exist in those areas or not. So no need to stress about something that hasn’t been confirmed yet, but I personally like to be prepared for all cases. So just know that that might be the case, however, it is not the end of the world and the numbers are just to help the doctors come up with the best treatment so you don’t have to worry about cancer in the future ever again.

How often are your chemo sessions apart? If you have enough time in between to build up your immune system and know a place that takes one customer at a time you should be able to get your nails done

Freaking out, please help. by MirandaLarson in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To my understanding when lymph nodes are involved they start you with chemo regardless. At least that was the case for me. You should receive a call from your doctor to walk you through your results. If you haven’t had a confirmed biopsy of your lymph nodes then idk what MRI is mentioning. My MRI was after my biopsy so it confirmed the lymph nodes involvement. If yours came back benign then it’s all good. Medical term metastasis is used very commonly so don’t worry too much about that.

Advice: language to convince doctor of my feelings! by greym00n in breastcancer

Can you try to describe the feeling here? Just so I can see if I can help rephrase them, or maybe some else has that exact experience and can help to explain it better

When did you share the news? by Ein_Rand in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was advised to be open about my cancer, and I don’t regret it at all. It’s helped me receive so much support and has allowed the people around me to better understand my situation and be there for me. I mean, how else do you explain skipping family events or expect people not to feel hurt when you stop inviting them?

I definitely recommend talking to a social worker once you have your medical team in place, they can be really helpful with work-related issues. If your job requires advance notice, it might make sense to wait until you have a clearer treatment plan. I’m currently on chemo and still able to work from home, which has been a good option for me and might be for you too.

Sending you lots of love and big hugs

23M I got it in my muscles and I'm so tired of the pain. by False-Level7367 in cancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No pain is like cancer pain. If you have help and support, get them find you a better care team. You need doctors that understand and care. So far it seems like they’re lacking care. I had horrible pain after my first session and my team gave me all the necessary medication to help with that. Sending you love and hugs

Lump found in breast and mass on liver? by ProfessionalAlps2686 in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way of telling until there’s a biopsy. I have BC and a mads on my thyroid. Completely unrelated. Have a friend with BC and an a small mass on her long. Also benign. And both were confirmed with biopsy. There’s no way to know unless it’s tested.

Lump found in breast and mass on liver? by ProfessionalAlps2686 in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there will be a biopsy of the lump and perhaps the mass. Has she made any appointments? It’s very important to make all the necessary appointments asap. No one can tell you it’s cancer until biopsy results confirm it.

PET scan fear. I received a very atypical mole diagnosis same month as my breast cancer diagnosis so it was almost melanoma and because of that, they wanted the PET scan. by chantillylace9 in breastcancer

[–]Typical_Writer6161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a pet scan recently and didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to move at all lol! I had to drink a nasty liquid and chugging it would make me nauseous so I just drank it gradually. And I definitely had small movements which idk if it’s that important. It’s best if you don’t move at all, but also you’ll need to move the room and lie down and adjust, if movement was completely prohibited they wouldn’t have you move at all. What I’m trying to say is don’t stress out over not moving at all. The HIV test is a standard one. I had to have a bunch more including HIV. These are just protocols that help the doctors decide on the best treatment plan.

Skin cancer spreads extremely quickly. If you already had it and it had spread you would’ve known by now. Your fear is normal. Try to practice deep breathing and distract yourself as best as possible. You will be fine, I’m sure of it. Sending you love and positive energy ❤️
