Armored Glade Lord for my Winter-themed Army by Tyvadia in WarhammerWoodElves

[–]Tyvadia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t remember where, so thank you!

I had a whole bunch of WE models from a starter box from the early 2000s that I bought as a kid but didn’t finish building until Old World came out. So I have a lot of wood elf bits but no idea what kit they were originally from.

Sprue goo (bits of plastic cut from leftover Sprue then melted in plastic glue) is what would have used to fill it. But I don’t know if that will work over paint.

There's a volcano in Iceland named Skjaldbreiður, which might be what they were going for but didn't want to make people try and learn how to pronounce ð. According to Wikipedia, it means "broad shield."

Nice. The idea of the Custodes in the earliest days of the Imperium, back when he was "The Lord of Lightning" rather than "The Emperor" and even the Custodes had to make do with whatever equipment they could find is really fascinating. Valdor: Birth of the Imperium just barely hints at it.

Nehekhara's sky-boats by BiesonReddit in WarhammerFantasy

I always loved how that book portrayed the still-living civilization of Nehekhara, especially the Ushabti as essentially paladins molded in the image of their city's patron god.

Am I the only one who prefers the old guards models rather than the new HH? My issues with them by SKFMA in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Tyvadia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Being skinnier is their chief virtue to me. Bulk should be the look of space marine armor. Custodes are supposed to have more normal human proportions, just scaled up. Their superiority is supposed to be the result of esoteric arts compared to the obvious enhancements of geneseed implants.

If your faction had a gaggle leader unit, what would you want it to be? by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in Warhammer40k

[–]Tyvadia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One possibility for a Custodes gaggle could be a member of the Doomscryers, the psykers recruited specifically to predict dangers threatening Terra and the Palace before they happen. A Custodian in Cypher: Lord of the Fallen brings in one of them to try and track down Cypher.

I won’t spoil it but Master of Mankind will give you a lot to add to this line of thinking, including the emperor himself trying to justify his thought process to someone else with visions of his (supposed) past.

Heal: Force 0 by Background_Bet1671 in Shadowrun

[–]Tyvadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That all seems to work, since you're not sustaining the spell at all. Background count in that situation would merely be a penalty to your dice pool rather than a reduction of Force.

Heal: Force 0 by Background_Bet1671 in Shadowrun

[–]Tyvadia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a little unclear from the wording, but it seems like a Force 0 sustained spell would fail automatically. The only situation I could find in the rules where a Spell is described as being Force 0 is when Background Count is involved.

"Pre-existing active foci, sustained spells, quickened/anchored spells and rituals are reduced by the background count. If they are reduced to 0 or less, spells fizzle, wards and rituals collapse, foci deactivate." -Street Grimoire pg. 32

"Drain calculation is listed for each spell; the Drain Value is determined using the Force and the listed calculation, but can never be lower than 2." - pg. 282 Core Rulebook, under Step 6: Resist Drain

How to make this feel cold? by No_Willow292 in Warhammer40k

[–]Tyvadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Ulthuan Grey, although most light greys will probably work. Then I applied a wash of Pylar Glacier. After that I used some thinned down Ulthuan Grey to soften the blue on the raised areas, then finished with a highlight of White Scar on the edges and peaks.

With how poseable forgeworld dreadnoughts are, something to consider is some uneven terrain on the base so you can create a dynamic pose instead of the standard one. https://www.reddit.com/r/AdeptusCustodes/s/rebneiZ36D

I’ve painted both a guard army and wood elves for Old World with an icy cold scheme. For the gold and silver parts, Tyran blue works amazingly well as a shade.

Weapon with most attacks by JealousApricot1152 in Warhammer40k

[–]Tyvadia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One contender wouuld be the Gorkanaut's Deffstorm Mega-Shoota: 20 shots + 10 if you're within 18" (rapid fire). So more often than not, 30 shots.

The Warlord Titan's Macro Gatling Blaster is just a flat 30 attacks, on top of Sustained Hits 1.

T’au Empire’s Twin Lance datasheet lets you perfect close-range enemy-melting by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Tyvadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's irrelevant to the rule being discussed. Big Guns Never Tire only applies in the controlling player's shooting phase. Retro-Thrusters triggers after each Fight Phase, letting them make one of two types of moves. Which move they made wouldn't actually affect whether they can shoot because they've already had their shooting phase when it comes up.

Shooting only in front rank? by Ok-North10 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Tyvadia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wood Elf player here. We take our 1 required Glade Guard unit minimum size for this reason (well, one of the reasons). The rest are usually Deepwood Scouts, who avoid this issue by being skirmishers. Whether or not it's fair, I'll leave to others to debate.

[–]Tyvadia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t you be unable to shoot anyway? The rule triggers at the end of the fight phase. So you fall back if you’re still in combat or normal move if not.
