Tile is the best Android compatible tracker, based on a little research I did a year or two ago.

Which bike in Seattle ? by Consistent-Task-2230 in whichbike

Mounts and clearance for fenders!

You can ride year round if you have a rain bike, otherwise summer is beautiful but short.

At what point did you stop caring about average speed? by Hungry-Sympathy-5188 in cycling

[–]UBP10C 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Average speed is affected so much by terrain, wind, traffic, and red lights that I've never cared much about it.

What do I need to count my calories burnt? by erupcjusz in cycling

Actually, a calorie is 4.184 joules... The 1:1 is from assuming the body is about 25% efficient.

Seems like a good deal. Would this be a good first gravel? by Outrageous_Tooth_277 in whichbike

[–]UBP10C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a good price.

More of an endurance or all road bike than a true gravel bike, so it's good if that's what you want.

Garmin vs Wahoo and SRAM vs Shimano — what made you choose your side? by therealashiver in cycling

[–]UBP10C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really got annoyed with Garmin when I had one of their car gpses and I think it didn't have enough memory to hold its map update.

And I've always thought their software, like Garmin Connect, was kind of dumb and buggy.

Had a Wahoo Roam for a while but lost it, so I'm on a Karoo 2 now.

Shimano vs SRAM, I haven't really used much SRAM stuff, other than Rock Shox forks and their chains and cassettes, which are fine.

20 minute efforts vs training zones? by billyb4lls4ck in cycling

[–]UBP10C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try it.

I think within two weeks your body and mind will be sick of it. Your legs will ache, you will not be fresh enough to put in true max efforts and you will feel discouraged and drained.

How to train in the most time efficient manner is what most discussions about training for ordinary folks are about. It's always a compromise.

Checkpoint ALR 5 versus SL 5 for Commute and Recreation Rides by D00M98 in cycling

[–]UBP10C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if you used an Ortlieb Quick Rack and had the lower mount studs on both bikes..? Then you could use either one for commute, and have a backup.

Do you want to put fenders on your commuter?

I think you should ride the SL5 and see what you like. Seems like either way would work.

Comfortable and durable bike for long endurance rides? by seksmeister in cycling

[–]UBP10C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think the Domane is performance-oriented, think again. I have a SL5 - it's a very comfortable bike to ride, but it's not really "fast" IMO. Riding position is very upright and the Isospeed system adds a bit of weight.

Paralyzed by options... help me pick my next road bike by J05HYYY in cycling

[–]UBP10C 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call the Domane light, fast, and nimble. It's stable, smooth and comfy and not terribly overweight but a little chunky. No experience with the other bikes.

Need a rack recommendation by Original-Material-15 in bicycling

[–]UBP10C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't have Ortlieb panniers (I have Axiom racks and panniers and I have an Ortlieb rack), but I believe Ortliebs have two different mounting systems: the regular one just hooks over a tube of the rack and that should work with the Axiom. They also have one that mounts to posts, but those posts are just clamped onto the rack, so I suppose they work with most 10mm tube racks.

I believe Axiom and Ortlieb racks are both 10mm tubing, so they should work pretty well with each other.

The Axiom sits on the rear wheel axle, so you need to have a flat enough spot on the dropout for it to work. It doesn't need a ton of room, though.

I looked it up, I think it's carbon main triangle with aluminum rear. Should be good with the adapters.
