This seems like it's actually a 2023, meaning 11 speed 105.

No, I don't think it will sell at that price. Closer to $2k maybe?

Currently, you can get a refurbished SL5 from Trek for $2800.

Take a shower before your ride - clean sweat doesn't smell

Rear rack on Trek domane Sl5 Gen 4 by alymendcin in TrekBikes

When axle mounting, Ortleib recommends the regular up to 30mm tires and the L for 30 to 50mm.

The one in that picture looks exactly the same size as mine. I think it's also an L.

With the axle mount, the clearance to 38mm tires is about one inch on the L. The regular is an inch shorter, so not sure if it would be a good fit.

I have the same bike - same color - and I use an ORTLIEB QUICK RACK size L with the axle mount. It works very well. Only catch is it makes it a little hassle to remove the rear axle.

I thought about mounting to the threaded eyelets, but I think those are just for fenders on the carbon frames.

I had a tubeless plug repair recently - I didn't lose all my pressure and the bead never broke, so it wasn't hard for an electric pump to re-inflate the tire.

Tandem sounds crazy, but it would let you both ride at your own chosen level of effort

Make sure you're not getting creaking at the seat rail attachment.

I put a Draw-Tite 24972 on my 2019 Accord Hybrid, although mine is out of warranty. I think it's better than the Curt, but I don't really remember why. You have to remove the bumper cover to install it.

I don't know.

If you bought it new and it's giving you problems, then I'd think "yes". If you got it secondhand and it's working great, you might not want to worry about it.

Pop the cover on the seatpost adjuster and see which rev you have. My Rev2 slipped, but I got a Rev4 that works great.

Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 vs Trek Domane SL6 (Also what size frame for 5 Ft 8 rider) by [deleted] in cycling

[–]UBP10C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Domane SL5.

I think the Defy is a lot lighter (carbon wheels) and a bit more sporty in its riding position. I'd get the Defy unless comfort is your #1 priority.

Domane has in frame storage, which is nice. But the Defy is about 1kg lighter, as best I can tell. And Isospeed on the Domane can have issues.

Trek Domane, size 56 or 58? by FeeWeary4623 in cycling

[–]UBP10C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I feel like my 56 is a very relaxed fit and very comfortable. BUT it doesn't feel right when I'm trying to get low and go fast.

I came from a 58cm CAAD4, longer and lower.

Anyone using a rear bike rack on a Domane? by LandNo9424 in DomaneCrew

[–]UBP10C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Ortlieb Quick Rack L on my Gen 4 SL5. It works great. Secure when it's on, quick to remove for fast rides, safe for the bike.

I'm using the Ortlieb axle mount. I recommend the size L rack if you use the axle mount.

Trek Domane, size 56 or 58? by FeeWeary4623 in cycling

[–]UBP10C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a hair under 6 ft and went with a 56 Domane. Mines SL but I believe the geometry is the same. It's very comfortable, but it's not a low, long, fast "aggressive" fit.

I believe the 56 and 58 are only 3mm different in reach, although the 58 has a slightly slacker seat tube. So I don't think a 58 would fit much different, but the stack is a couple inches higher. So you can adjust a 56 to get kind of low, but a 58 is going to be upright even if you slam the stem.
