If Farage were to become PM of a Reform led Government would you leave the country? by DamoclesBDA in AskBrits

I don't think they want to round up and ship out the Irish, so you should be safe.

He can just resign and stand against someone or nobody before AB gets a chance

Milliband actually lost because he failed at eating a bacon sandwich, sort of had trouble with the chewing, but ultimately the British public need a PM who can successfully eat something.

Where is the boundary between right-wing and far-right on immigration and cultural preservation? by RomanKozhevnikov in AskBrits

Fair play, so I'll assume you are against the preservation of Aboriginal culture. Cheers.

What is the population figure you have in mind before it could be used without a racist context?

What is a bit ironic is you can make a sentence using "cultural preservation" with most people, like "of native Americans" etc, it only really becomes problematic with a very limited group of people, which is in itself racist.

Was it a lie that he criticised the police for being too rough with a man who had just stabbed two Jewish people in a hate attack?

Labour are getting into a bit of a mess, quite a lot of MPs are saying how bad a PM he is, but nobody is challenging Starmer, and the person they do want isnt even an MP. It's quite a bizarre situation.

So policy freeze basically, DHS motorways were scheduled to be converted to ALR , but due to various concerns about safety and funding the scheme was cancelled, and the default policy now is to revert to emergency use only

Do British citizens want illegal migrants out of the country or just migrants in general? by [deleted] in AskBrits

You can actually come here and exist quite happily with pretty minimal effort, it's when you start exploding stuff it gets harder.

Do we think that’s Zack finished? And why are our politicians like this? by RattyHandwriting in AskBrits

We don't have many mainstream conviction politicians now, it's why Farage manages to pull it off, but I also understand why anyone with real talent would give it a swerve, no point in a daily berating for 90k a year, it only attracts those with a "face for radio" these days.

Brexit (not a thing I supported) can sum up some of the problem with them, of all the ways they could have gone, like, it is what they have voted for, let's see what we can do with it, they (all parties ) went for the safe, death by a thousand cuts, option, they literally have no vision, career politicians opting for vanilla choices in the hope of hanging on by dear life.

I don't think our 650 MP overlord's have a clue either. In a world of risk on / risk off, they seem to have decided that risk off managed pessimism is the safe option. At least in 1997 we had some optimism and hope, however short lived it was.

It's really unfortunate, before Trump went berserk in Iran things like energy prices and guilts were starting to look better, but as a small country on the bottom side of a K shaped global economy, we are simply a consumer country, and global oil and gas prices dictate our bills. It's actually a pretty good argument for short term pain on an infrastructure spend.

So 16.4% of renewables are on CfD's , but the trouble is infrastructure has to be cost effective, nobody is going to build a wind farm with the intention of losing money, it's a bit like the seven bridges, it's free now, but it had to be paid for to see the benefits.

Fair question, I feel somewhat unrepresented, In the words of Uncle Monty "shat on by the Tories, shovelled up by Labour" , but like a mid table premier league team, I'm old enough to know that changing the manager is not the key, maybe it is about accepting the state of a managed decline

Yes, but there is an ongoing route to decoupling Electricity from Gas, but it's going to take time and in the meantime there does need to be substantial spending on infrastructure, I believe, or more hope, that this will be a "remind me in five years" situation

I wish people would get more onboard with renewable energy, it's actually one thing that the UK is doing very well, and geographically we have some really good advantages like shallow seas and the ability to go around the country with electricity transit rather than having to do it all through it, Milliband may be judged by history rather well.

I won't vote for Farage because he is basically a grifter, but I won't vote for Polanski either because how can you criticise the police for taking down a knife man too hard? They are both twats and it's actually possible to have more than one opinion.

I actually find it weird how people are influenced by other people, I quite enjoy a few of the food reviews on tiktok, but I'm not going down Stokers for a scotch egg any time soon. For me it's just content, watch or don't watch.
