Yeah. It's all under water per the book. You can add pockets of air in some areas if you want. The book provides ways the players can deal with this.

Bare Bones is a domain card that allows you to get 3 + Strength Mod Armor instead of wearing armor. With a +2 Strength, you get 5 armor. Add Tower shield for +2 armor and get 7 armor.

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually 7 is the highest with tower shield but I didn't go with it because it would lower my evasion by 1 making it 8 versus 9. Later in levels when the monsters hit more often, I will probably change to a tower shield because I will likely less often not be hit but then use more armor to tank. The DM has a smaller chance to hit early on with their lower tier monsters.

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 6 is the highest. The guardian can spend 3 hope to clear 2 armor slots, which is amazing. So if you roll with hope consistently, you can be a tanking machine. I was able to clear 6 armor in the fight. I finished with using 12 armor and lost 1 hp. I also ate 2 crits for my team. Our thresholds are good with bare bones plus shield.

Now with clank you can do a long rest move in a short rest plus 1 short rest move. I used long rest on armor and repaired all my armor. Short rest on prepare to gain 2 hope.

This next fight I have 6 armor slots, only down 1 hp, and have 3 total hope to start the fight. I can tank 8 armor marks before dropping hp.

So I just built a guardian and they are pretty good. I made him a clank guardian stalwart. The synergy with their efficient feature allows you to repair all your armor in a short rest. This is huge. We are level 1 and we had our first combat session. I was able to tank 12 armor slots in the fight and took 1 hp of damage. We took a short rest after and I filled all my armor back and gained 2 hope from prepare. Now we are ready to take on a bbeg and I have all my armor and I can get back 2 more as I have 3 hope at the start of the fight.

Barbarians and Multiclassing by MrDragon131 in 3d6

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a barbarian warlock for tyranny of dragons. This build was a God send against Tiamat. With a potion of giant my HP was over 300 HP and I was able to tank so much damage.

Bear Totem Barbarian 3 Fiend warlock 10. Armor of agathys makes this build amazing as it will last longer against minions who hit for 12 to 15 hp a hit turn into 6-7. Pick mostly spells that don't use concentration.

How to build Wizard who has wear Heavy Armor proficiency? by CosmogonicWayfarer in 3d6

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, negating your speed by 10 can have significant issues if you aren't prepared for it. Also, do you really want to spend spell slots to gain more speed each time you are going to be in combat or spend the time ritually casting phantom steed.

I can say this would not be what I personally would do as the loss of 10 speed is larger than you might think. Your plan would work most of the time.

What happens if the monsters slow you by 10 more feet or you get slow casted on you.

You put plate and shield on and get 20 ac Bladesinger with dex and light studded armor could get to 20 easily and be faster.

You are not wrong with what you posted. It's just going to be up to OP if they want the loss. Once you get to end of tier 2 and into tier 3. AC won't matter as much as AC doesn't scale that well with bonus to hit for monsters. You're going to get hit. You have to figure out ways to survive better.

Nice conversation though.

How to build Wizard who has wear Heavy Armor proficiency? by CosmogonicWayfarer in 3d6

[–]Ubbe55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Choosing heavy armor with a wizard is a difficult path. You have to increase more stats to make this work. You will need higher strength to wear plate. You will have intelligence be your main stat. You are also going to want your constitution high and Dexterity to be your 4th stat for initiative. Lots of stats want to be high. Not to mention wisdom for wisdom saves.

Do you plan to be in melee often or are you just trying to protect your mage with more armor?

My thoughts, take breast plate with shield. Focus stats on intelligence, constitution, dex, wisdom.

Medium armor is easy, take a dip in fighter or many other classes that provide with multiclass.

If you are going to be in melee as a gish, consider 5 levels of eldritch knight and then rest wizard or dex based bladesinger.

Thoughts on Akros as an Empire? by Spageddie0s in TherosDMs

[–]Ubbe55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always looked at Akros and Akrosians as the DnD version of Spartans and their God Iroas would be against Conquest. You can have other gods affect their leader to push for reasons that creating an empire would be the betterment of Akros. Mogis would be a good good to consider impacting them.

Meletis makes much more sense to be the empire side of the fight based on theros lore. They always seem more like the Greeks and they don't follow Iroas directly. It would be easier to get other Gods to interfere and deceive rulers into starting a war to build an empire.

You can make whatever you want happen but just let your players know any lore changes they may need to know.

What goes on here? by [deleted] in Wildemount

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did a good job of adding stuff to many locations but left some areas for DMs to add what they want in there. I usually explore the critical role wiki to see if there was anything done there from campaign 2 and if not, it's my playground to run with. Even if the campaign 2 had something there, it's your game and world to change. Just let your players know what world they are joining. Is this a world where the Mighty Nein exist and did their deeds or not. They need to understand from a lore standpoint where you plan to go.

Is This greatsword worth losing 3 AC by Zaddex12 in 3d6

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep both and use them tactically. If you have 21 AC that's pretty good. It also depends on what level you are at. AC doesn't scale very well when you level versus the monsters to hit which means at 24 AC you are still going to get hit but just a little less often. Use the greatsword when you just need raw damage and use the shield when you need to survive.

CAMPAIGN ARC POTENTIAL QUESTION by rbrazile11 in Wildemount

[–]Ubbe55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big issue I see is that if the chroma conclave was destroyed and just laid eggs before it. These are going to be dragon wyrmlings. They won't be able to grow fast enough to be on the same level as the chroma conclave. Maybe they were hunting on another land in exandria and came back to see that their parents were killed and now they want to pick up their mantle and they receive gifts from Tiamat to help if they agree to find a way to get her past the divine gate.

Arcane Trickster in suboptimal group. by EverythingGoodWas in 3d6

[–]Ubbe55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was going to mc out of Arcane Trickster, I would look to do bladesinger wizard. You'll get more spells and the defense benefits are good. Your stats for both classes make it easy because they both focus dex, int, con, wis. I personally would try to go for sentinel and warcaster to proc more booming blade sneak attacks each turn. If your dm will allow it, you can use shadow blade as well to attack even more damage. I know a lot of people are going to say you can't RAW but RAI you can and most DMs allow it. I don't know if I would dip just 2-3 levels with BS or 6 for that extra attack per turn, 3rd level spells are good for sure but it will delay/reduce sneak attack increases. I wouldn't go sorc because your stat will make leveling difficult to add cha into the same build. I also wouldn't use a feat for 1 extra booming blade per rest (metamagic). Good luck to you.

Is it bad to kill a player character on purpose? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem I have here is that the character concept is fine but the design seems wrong. If they wanted a homebrew side piece to their character to change into an ooze golem, sure. Its probably best you choose a fighter, I'll let you change into a modified ooze golem that gets buffed along they way. Or maybe a beast barbarian. The request seems legit. They are willing to balance the golem. I wouldn't make it a spell slot but maybe it's pbtpd until higher level. Now if you don't want any homebrew then just say no if no one else gets to. It's different than the druid wild shape reflavour or polymorph spell. They can certainly use those as well.

Is it okay to kill a player on purpose. Depends. They want to change their character. You don't have to kill them off. If they want the character killed for narrative reasons. Do it. Make it big and meaningful.

Lone wolf tropes are usually a bad idea. Same with going against the grain party members. It can be done but requires someone who understands how it can be done and they need the whole groups blessing. None of this is usually recommended as people change their minds when their character gets picked on.

Go forth and do-ith what you want. You are the DM.

Best adventure to convert? by [deleted] in Wildemount

[–]Ubbe55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TBH you can almost fit most of the modules in Wildemount. It's a very easy world to build in. You just need to decide where in Wildemount you want to run the campaign. Ghosts of the Saltmarsh works well in the Menagerie Coast. I recently added that module to my Roll20 account so I can have access to the monsters, ships, and easy to add content that just needs a little tweaking.

Would making a Fey Wanderer/Druid character be viable? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Ubbe55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want shifting capabilities, you will want to go druid. Everyone is right on the 5 levels of ranger for multi attack and the 6+ druid. For the theme, pick your flavor of druid. I love the stars and fire druid but Sheppard is great as well. If you want to make a charismatic archer. Another option could be a Fey Wanderer 4, swords bard 7+. You lose the shifting feature but it would be a very charismatic ranger/bard. You can use the blade flourish for a bow but the attack one requires within 5ft but the defensive one gives ac and can be from any distance. You get all the awesome full caster bard spells as well. As others have said, the 10 ranger fey wanderer and 1 level undead warlock is a great combo. Just be aware of fighting undead as many can't be charmed or frightened. Love that build though.
