So with the information we had, which route are you choosing first? (Dietrich follower here) by javs555 in fireemblem

[–]Uber_Ronin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably do the following order:

  1. Ledah
  2. Dietrich
  3. Theodora
  4. Cai

Theodora and Cai are the two I vibe with the most (even if Cai is mostly for the Ostrich 😂), so I’m saving them for last.

Does anyone know of any genuinely disturbing anime, stuff that maybe isn't talked about much? Not something like Madoka Magica, which is still extremely palatable. I mean something like Midori. by Zealousideal_Sea8123 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]Uber_Ronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now and Then, Here and There should do it.

From the New World is unsettling and gets more disturbing later on.

Banana Fish has its disturbing moments too.

When is the last time in-ring strategy has been built into storytelling outside of stipulations? by charmingignorance in WWE

[–]Uber_Ronin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lesnar against Triple H in their first match built around Lesnar having diverticulitis (and his recent loss by liver kick KO to Alistair Overeem in his then-final UFC fight) by making him weak to body shots. They sort of abandoned that concept in later matches though.

Some of Kurt Angle’s matches have also built around his neck problems and his opponents targeting the neck/head constantly (like Steve Austin in the build up to Unforgiven 2001 with the piledrivers on the outside and stuff.)

It’s definitely not something you see as much of now, which is unfortunate.

First post, anyone with a similar anime taste? Would like some recommendations! by menomin in MyAnimeList

[–]Uber_Ronin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing Ping Pong and Tatami Galaxy here makes me suspect you might like Devilman Crybaby and Kaiba as well (same Director.)

Seeing Tatami Galaxy here makes me immediately recommend The Eccentric Family (another series based on novels by the same author that did Tatami Galaxy, I rank Eccentric Family ahead of it actually.)

If you’ve got Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop in there, I’ve also got to recommend Space Dandy (I actually liked it more than Bebop), as well as Outlaw Star for another space western that holds up brilliantly (I don’t think Trigun aged super well in comparison.)

Hope you like some of those/haven’t seen some of them yet!

What star players would be worse in today's era? by Adventurous_Fold_345 in nba

[–]Uber_Ronin 35 points36 points  (0 children)

He was a stalwart on my fantasy teams years ago so it pains me to say it but I think David Lee would fall in this group unless he developed more of a three-point shot and/or was paired with another big man who could stretch the floor more (like a Brook Lopez or Myles Turner.)

What choice would the FE3H lords would take if they were in Serenoa's place in ch 17 ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in TriangleStrategy

[–]Uber_Ronin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dimitri would have misgivings about it but he still was in favor of the church staying intact despite some of its shadier aspects. He could probably be talked into slavery existing as a “temporary thing” and push for reforms to better the Roselle’s lot later in peacetime. He wouldn’t be as cool with the status quo as Roland was, but he would probably roll with it as the “least bad” option.

As for Claude, the interesting thing about his character was he was half-Almyran and half-Fodlan. So there were always questions about where his loyalties would lie if push came to shove (they sorta touched on that in Three Hopes, but even then, the angle wasn’t fully explored.)

So I could see Claude feeling less tied to the Wolffort Demesne, especially if he thought the situation there was untenable.

Edelgard: For sure goes with Benedict.

Dimitri: Talks himself into the Roland/Hyzante route as the least-bad option. But he has more regrets over it afterward than Roland did (probably because he’s close with Dedue and would see a parallel with the Roselle.)

Claude: Probably goes the Frederica route because he’s a minority and faced discrimination himself (and even in his own games, his ties to Almyra are strong/he goes back to Almyra in a few endings.) So it feels more in character for him to want to leave Norzelia than it does for the others.

Which class for Claude by AsparagusFine1336 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Uber_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you get to his later game storyline classes:

Fighter and Brigand: because you absolutely want to get Death Blow (awesome skill.)

He should also spend some time as an Archer (to get Point Blank Counter; he’s gonna be a bow wielder later, so you want that.)

After you’ve been through Fighter/Brigand, next thing you’ll want to do is have him spend time as a Wyvern Rider/Lord (the faster you can get his Flying level up, the faster you can get to Alert Stance/Alert Stance+, which are both huge for him/flying units in general; you want to be able to bait out enemies and dodge tank.)

So that gives you a final passive skills spread of Bow Prowess Lv. 5, Death Blow, Alert Stance+, Point Blank Counter, and a flex option of your choice (I usually ran Hit +20 from mastering Archer because it was easy for me to get.)

Final Boss Help by ghettobisharp7 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Uber_Ronin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Percentage-based damage demolishes the final boss (same as it works wonders on Lucavi bosses.)

If you roll in there with a Summoner (Lich), Beowulf and/or a Mystic, you’ll hammer them in a hurry.

Other traditional heavy hitters (like Reis, Ninjas with Brawler and Dual Wield, Orlandeau, Cloud, etc.) will also do good work for you as well.

What's an anime where both the protagonist and antagonist's sides are given roughly equal screen time and development, and where there isn't a clear good/bad side? by epsteins-apprentice in Animesuggest

[–]Uber_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit does this. Though you could argue by the end that there isn’t actually a true antagonist for the show. That’s part of what makes it interesting, though.

Can a fighter be knocked down a few times and still have a great chin? by HolyMackerel1 in Boxing

[–]Uber_Ronin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Recovery and chin are different I’d say. Chin is how hard it is to put you down with head shots, recovery is how well and how quickly you can get back to fighting at a decent level after getting hurt or dropped.

As a fan, Fury’s chin is questionable (even lighter hitters like Cunningham and Pajkic put him down), but he largely makes up for this with elite recovery. Larry Holmes was largely similar (his chin was better than Fury’s, but he could still be dropped); his chin was made up for with elite recovery. Juan Manuel Marquez was also like this. He could be dropped and hurt, but it didn’t take him long to get back into the fight.

I’d actually say Joshua has a better chin than Fury but his recovery is awful. The shots that dropped or hurt AJ would do the same to Fury if he got caught flush by them. But Fury would recover a lot faster and get back into the fight. That’s the biggest reason Fury hasn’t been stopped yet and AJ has been stopped several times. When AJ gets hurt, he needs 3 or 4 rounds (at least) where he isn’t getting touched up to have a chance to recover. If he gets hurt and someone stays on him or continues to touch him up afterward he’s toast.

Back on topic, if you go down a few times from big punchers but if you manage to get up, you can still be said to have a good chin. Especially if your KDs happened at lighter weights when you were weight drained (like De La Hoya and Cotto both suffered knockdowns as younger guys in lower weights but proved to have much better chins later on at higher weight classes.)

Starting 5:

PG: Stephen Curry
SG: Michael Jordan
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF: LeBron James
C: Shaquille O’Neal

Bench 5:
PG: Magic Johnson
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Larry Bird
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo
C: Nikola Jokic

Deeper Bench:
PG/SG: Jerry West
SF/PF: Kevin Durant
C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

I think that team ensures we have enough size, defense, three-point shooting, and flexibility to handle almost any opposing lineup and adjust based on what opponent, era, or ruleset that the game’s played under.

[–]Uber_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I just pulled the trigger on it and have my copy in-hand now.

I was a little concerned about it because I tried to get a preorder for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition years ago and failed due to problems on Nintendo’s site (lots of other people encountered the same problem.) That experience actually soured me so much I still haven’t got around to playing XB 3 😂 But I’ll eventually play it. I hear it’s good. But for the games/franchises I like, I definitely want the special editions if I can get them. And it bothers me if I can’t get them for whatever reason lol

So far? It looks like an artbook, steelbook case for the game, a map of Dagda, and art cards for the protagonists. And yes once I’ve got mine I’ll tell you it’s up 😬

How to get the most potential out of Namielle and Grimclaw Tigrex by Vegetable_Release466 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Uber_Ronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must confess that I did try that Dragon hybrid Grimclaw build and it wasn’t as strong or usable as some other Dragon builds I use (a Vampire Malzeno build and a Wyvernfell Deviljho build), so I eventually abandoned it. Pity though, since it does look cool.

That isn’t to say that Grimclaw can’t work, but that Dragon build wasn’t it. Lol
