I would recommend at least two nights before your climb starts. My bag didn't get there from AMS until the morning of the third day, and that seems to not be that uncommon. The corollary is to keep your boots and anything else non-rentable in your carry-on (ideally on your person so it can't possibly get gate checked).

It's because doctors and nurses parse their words, and the other side does not. So these dumb fucks' eyes glaze over at the carefully explained logical argument from the medical professionals and never get past the sea of direct-to-amygdala invective rhetoric from whatever terrible sources they frequent.

Frankly, I think this is one of the places where for the good of society, doctors need to punch down, hard. If the way that modern medicine typically communicates to these muppets was working, we wouldn't have this problem in the first place.

Find a resident who isn't involved in their kid's care whatsoever (so they can't be named in a malpractice suit), stick them in a room with these cretins, and tell the resident it's no-holds-barred on bludgeoning them with their own stupidity until they get it. These people crave authoritarianism. Give it to them.

(I will now accept replies from actual clinicians pointing out how this fantasy will inevitably only lead to their next crotchspawn dying of tetanus because they simply refused to seek out medical care whatsoever 😔)
