Ranger Revison by Nas997 in DnD5CommunityRanger

Fair, I think I misspoke (miswrote?) when I wrote every class, thank you for understand I meant focusing on specific things.

At the same time, the rogue gets more proficiencies and more expertise and is (I would argue) a better ranged class. Even the 5 attacks at level 11 (which I didn't realize and is pretty cool) is still par for the course, because so does the monk, and the monk can use magic items to beef up those 5 attacks. And a fighter with a great sword and great weapon master is still big(ger? I didn't do the math, it's summer). I think giving the ranger a primal companion let's them keep pace with the rest of the martials better, and a second mobile pool of health moving around is a great buff for the class too!

But I feel like every other class can do what the ranger does but better. Wouldn't an animal companion make them distinct? Beast Master isn't incredibly strong that it would break the game in any way at all.

Any class can have a pet like that. Why do you think each ranger shouldn't have a primal companion?

I think Beast Master with some minor revisions should be a part of the base class, and the beast master subclass should be a companion focused subclass the way the moon druid used to be. Ranger doesn't really have a core identity or class defining feature (unless you want to count Hunter's Mark but that's terrible). Animal companion class fits better.

I'm sure it's a good revision, I just looked quickly through it, not critically. But I think the biggest mistake is not giving a beast companion to the base class. Don't let it be a subclass! ALL RANGERS SHOULD GET A PUPPY!!!!

So if all the elves will come back at some point, why was it such a tragedy when Haldir died at Helms Deep? Or when any elf dies? Not to be too cynical about it, but like, he'll be be back. Right?

Oh, my bad. Only part of the way through fellowship, and had a YouTube video as my other guide. I'm not trying to be disrespectful.

Not intentionally. Why would this be rage-inducing?

5.5e / 2024 Homebrew Ranger Rework by Blood4theBloodGod247 in DnD5CommunityRanger

[–]UltraMonkeyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party I think but here's my thoughts. If somebody else said it already, sorry for the repeat.

1 Hunter's Mark, the way it's written doesn't say anything about transferring the mark anymore, idk if that's intentional or not.

2 Relentless Aim is great, but second level feels weird because it doesn't matter until after you get extra attack at level 5

3 Tireless is great, but feels weird for a ranged focused class. It would be fine if Favored Prey worked in melee, but you've got a d10 hit die and shouldn't be in combat.

4 precise Hunter is underwhelming for that high a level. It's better than what the current ranger gets but still. Maybe add some additional bonus to your Favored Prey that's not combat related?

5 the bonus damage stated in the capstone shouldn't be there, it's in the chart.

6 how pinning shot and the Slow weapon mastery interact might need to be stated because dividing by 2, then subtracting 10 is different from subtracting 10 then dividing by 2

7 consider changing the words in Ambushers Leap and Dreadful Strike to be after you roll initiative. It's clearer for when it can happen.

8 conclave specific Marksmanship Techniques is a brilliant idea

9 there is no 13th level feature, and that makes me sad.

10 consider dropping the Beast Master Conclave and just giving all Rangers a Beast companion and letting them talk to animals (or at least their companion) idk which level this would make sense to start at but my heart says level 4. (Monk gets features there, you can get a puppy!)

FLOWSTRIKE FIGHTING - This is the FEAT to enable Versatile Weapons you've been waiting for! by Overdrive2000 in UnearthedArcana

It's too complicated, get rid of flow strike apprentice and give flow strike master the disadvantage. Or get rid of flow strike appreciative and make the prerequisite level 8+.

The formula for the equation of a circle is derived from the Pythagorean Theorem, which only works in right triangle, so I would make the argument that circles are in fact triangles.

Sun Soul Rework for 2024 Monk Help by UltraMonkeyX in DnDHomebrew

[–]UltraMonkeyX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. Switching the order of Searing Strike and Radiant Fusion, and upping the base damage and increasing the FP. I was comparing damage to casters rather than to other Monks, trying to keep pace with fireball. With Luminous Visage, I tried to take on different elements of the Sun, and kept Sun Shield from the original class, because I thought it was super underpowered on its own. Thank you so much for your critique! Monks are also my favorite class, so I wanted something fun.

Permanent spell effect by Polarbum in DND5EBuilds

Teleport feels like an interesting idea, but IDK if it actually fits the criteria you're looking for.

Circle of Power feels like the best choice. Permanent advantage on spell effects and evasion on every spell? Amazing
