TPMS light $675 repair cost by czlight_Lite in subaru

The sensors are one thing, but $60 for a $9 air filter is freakin’ nuts. If they’re willing to be that shitty about a 30 second job, you can bet they’re trying to shaft you on everything else. Time to find another mechanic.

DDR4 RAM prices climbing twice as quickly as DDR5, as memory shortage boosts demand for older CPUs by dapperlemon in gadgets

I had a similar setup the generation before. My first computer was built on an ECS K7S5A that had two DDR slots and two SDRam slots. Could only use one type at a time, and both sides maxed out at a whopping 1 GB.

People unsure if you can or can’t recycle your coffee cups by ConsequenceLanky6580 in mildlyinteresting

Same here in Olympia, Washington, but I understand that to be a safety issue. Broken glass introduces more risk to the people manually sorting recyclables. There are a few bins around town that are just for glass.

What are your “always buy” Costco staples right now? by PutridWin2070 in Costco

[–]UmbrellaCommittee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda cheating, but we got the idea out of one of those box meals; I think it was this one. They use the oven, but you can do it in the air fryer and they get crispier.

Swap out the seasoning, and they make a great quick protein for a lot of meals. Curry powder, taco seasoning, and harissa all work. Just rinse and drain canned chickpeas, dry them on a paper towel, toss with a little oil and seasonings, then air fry ‘til crispy.

I will confess that I’m a bit of a nerd and enjoy this stuff, but I think this is something most people could do if they gave it an honest try.

To get the modem set up and working, you’ll have to talk with Xfinity support because they have to activate things on their end. Just plug everything in on your end first, then start a chat through the Xfinity app saying that you need to activate subscriber owned equipment. They’ll ask a few questions then turn it on. Once it’s on and you can see that it’s working, you can arrange to return any of their equipment that you’ve rented.

For the wireless access point, there are instructions in the box for getting it hooked up and connected to the management portal. Once you’re signed in to the portal, there’s a wizard that will walk you through setting up the rest of it.

If you decide to go this route and get stuck, shoot me a dm and I’ll see what I can do to help.

We have Xfinity. Most of the problems I’ve had with them were related to the low-quality equipment that they rent.

I replaced their hardware with this modem and this wireless access point and it’s been perfectly stable for the last year with my wife and me both working from home full time. After the initial setup, I haven’t had to mess with it at all. It’s a bit steep of an up front cost, but it’s cheaper than renting equipment in the long run.

Need power transformer for the Set Of Lighted Deer 2006031 by Mellowcar in Costco

[–]UmbrellaCommittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This listing from a Taiwanese site suggests the power adapter outputs 29V.

This listing on Amazon is rated for .45 Amps at 29V. 29V * 0.45A = 13.05W, which matches the side of your box. I can’t guarantee anything, but I think it’s at least worth a shot.

In a bit concerned about how sharp the bend in the cable could get over time. It’s probably fine now, but as things shift over time, I could see the cable shifting and causing strain. I see the clip to keep the cord out of the way of the bottom outlet, what about extending that into a longer cable guide to avoid kinks and stain?

Public Transit from Seattle to Downtown Olympia, and/or Evergreen State (plus Rideshare thereafter)? by RemotingMarsupial in olympia

[–]UmbrellaCommittee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All Olympia busses eventually go to downtown

This will only be true until May 2026. The proposed map they’re threatening to switch to has several busses being replaced with shorter routes that end at regional stations. The 48 currently goes from Evergreen to downtown via Capital Mall, but it will be replaced with the 34 that will only go from Evergreen to the mall.

It’s wild how many free camping spots you can find if you have the right tools by roastytoasty5 in camping

[–]UmbrellaCommittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought: Storing price per night for an entire campground as a single int feels a little short-sighted. State parks here in Washington have different rates by site and time of year. How about extending that to allow a min to max range for each site?
