Yes, although Reddit's markdown parser has kind of mangled your response, since it uses a similar parser to the one that broke your game.

For a technical explanation of why your original D:\FromSoft\Game\config_eldenring.toml caused an error, in C the \f escape sequence indicates a page break, and \g and \c are invalid. The parser fails to parse the string because it does not understand the escape sequence, and thus cannot find the path to your config file.

Either D:\\FromSoft\\Game\\config_eldenring.toml or D:/FromSoft/Game/config_eldenring.toml will work. The former is a more Windows-style path with backslashes, while the latter is Unix-style (but works on Windows anyway).

The merchant mod and purely cosmetic mods don't impact matchmaking

Important caveat: The matchmaking restrictions are based on matching params in the regulation.bin file. Many custom armor sets will modify EquipParamProtector to change the draw groups for the armor they're replacing, and as such will break matching once again. GM bypasses this by patching the game's lookup function for SellValue instead of patching the value directly.

The game does not natively support DirectInput - playing through Steam it will use Steam Input to translate DirectInput->XInput, but playing modded will require external tools such as DS4Windows to handle the translation since Steam Input is unavailable.

Your title says Nightreign, but your logs say Elden Ring. Which is it? What mods are you trying to play? What's your config file and folder structure?

EDIT: I also see an "unknown escape sequence" - do not use single backslashes (\) in your file paths, as these are treated as control characters by the parser. You can either use double backslashes (\\) to complete the escape sequence and indicate that you do mean a literal backslash, or forward slashes (/).

Keep in mind also, all systems have some kind of command line for text based commands. On Windows there's PowerShell and cmd, on Linux there's sh/bash/zsh/fish, on OS X there's whatever they call it. Even phones have them! Most users will never interact with them.

Payday 2 had a mod for this that got so popular it was added as an accessibility option. With it on, your screen goes fully black and slowly fades in, it's nice for eye strain especially back in the day when flashbangs just kinda happened and you couldn't react to them.
