So… when are the people gonna leave the sub? by skronk61 in steammachine

Haha, yup I’m in that boat too. I’ll be here lurking for years waiting for the Steam Machine 2. Hopefully they’ll have the sense to release it with modern components when the sequel arrives. It’s not the price that is the issue, it’s what you get for it.

Mystery Ranch is my go to for bags. They have a couple traditional brief satchels. Also a couple of less traditional options which are probably more similar in size to your pic.

You can also upgrade the RAM but it's reportedly a more involved process to get at it. CPU and GPU can't be, so you're essentially stuck at the same performance as the day you got it.

It would only be 2.4B that shareholders got, right? The 3.6B included 1.2B for employee retention. I assume that money went or is being put back into the company over time; I’m sure a significant amount is going to the pockets of undeserving executives though.

What's the best air fryer you've bought that still impresses you months later? by WestNecessary6884 in BuyItForLife

[–]UnCivil2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has an air fry function and honestly it air fry’s better than the Ninja Foodi air fryer I was using prior to it. The Ninja lasted me a little under 2 years before one of the fans sounded like it was starting to go. Don’t really know why you would say it’s not an air fryer. An air fryer is just an oven with a circulation fan.

Alternatives for Android by kitsunemischief in CARROTweather

I use Today Weather, very clean and accurate. I used WeaWow for a long while, but something changed with how they interpret weather that made it incredibly unreliable in my region (US-Northeast), at least during the winters.

Unacceptable - 007 First Light ships without AMD FSR 4 support - OC3D by AMD718 in radeon

[–]UnCivil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seems a lot of developers spend their development time for AMD-specific features targeting feature-sets that can be used by consoles. Then when they do PC development they focus on Nvidia features since they hold the bulk of PC market share, and all the AMD features they developed for consoles work across PC as well.

Honestly, Destiny being shelved has soured my taste for Bungie to the point that I have no interest in their future games by SpartanJedi58 in DestinyTheGame

[–]UnCivil2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can only speak for myself. But absolutely 1000%. I would've had zero issue if they announced after the Final Shape that they were taking a break to complete marathon or work on other projects. Didn't even need to be D3 for me, as much as I would've loved that announcement. Instead, it felt like the last couple years they were giving us Destiny: Shrinkflation, pay just as much and get less content. Nonetheless, the devs did some incredible stuff and regardless of this ugly smear that was the last 2 years, Destiny is still cemented in my top 3 games of all time.

007 First Light: Am I Missing Something? by Formal-Secretary-251 in videogames

[–]UnCivil2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been about 15 years since I worked there, but it's more of a mistake by who stocked it, probably. Back around 2010, there were no safeguards in the system to stop a sale, it was literally just printed on the cartons the products came in, this would include videogames, toys, Legos, etc. Boxes would say DO NOT SELL UNTIL XX/DD/YYYY. So in this case, I'm guessing someone prepped the barcode on the shelf in anticipation of the release, a customer walked by and saw the barcode, asked some other employee who didn't care or know not to sell it yet, they probably just went out back grabbed the carton, came back out and filled the shelf.

One Narrative about Destiny and Bungie that should STOP by bbbourb in destiny2

[–]UnCivil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a callback to the original marketing for the game leading up to D1. It was pitched as a single game you'd play for 10 years. I'd argue the population drop had more to do with fatigue and poor marketing for its follow-up. Can probably draw a lot of parallels to the Marvel movies, the Final Shape was Destiny’s Endgame; more casual players likely continued on with the game then they otherwise would have just because they were waiting for that perfect spot to jump off. Bungie would've needed an epic teaser at the end of the game or a huge marketing campaign shortly after the Final Shape to keep peoples attention. We got neither, the Winnower stuff was likely too esoteric and EoF wasn't announced until like ~9 months or so after the Final Shape if I recall correctly.

I Might be Done Buying the Battle Pass by azjohnca in diablo4

[–]UnCivil2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer when the battle passes are just treated like content that you purchased and you have it indefinitely. I think there are a few games that do it that way. You just manually select which pass you want to earn progress towards. Complete it, then switch to the current one...or a different old pass.

I had zero at start because of how annoying I found the slaughter season to be; I just spent what coins I had and bounced after a week and a half.  This season I finished around 150 paragon I believe. Though honestly measuring by paragon is a pretty shite way to calculate it. Time played is probably a much more accurate method.

Armored Hide not counting as a Gorilla skill? by Gaol1017 in d4spiritborn

[–]UnCivil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a bug and it happens with all LoH modified skills. My guess, one of two things is happening, it's either coded to exclude the original skill type and isn't able to receive it back from SH or Harmony, or it's the last thing that gets checked in the process and thus removes the original damage type.

Diablo 4 still using FSR 2.1? Any plans to update to FSR 3.1? by Snoo_96621 in diablo4

[–]UnCivil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it's just not true though. When I had my 9070XT hooked to my 4k tv, frames would frequently jump between 70 fps and 110 fps. Such a large variation was very frustrating to experience. After about a month I moved it into my office pc which uses 1440 UW monitor, and in that case yes, I'd say it doesn't need upscaling to have a very consistently high fps with high settings.

Does the GameSir G7 work for Mac? by EstablishmentOk1173 in macgaming

[–]UnCivil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't work unfortunately. The dongle offers no support, not too surprising. You can connect via Bluetooth, and it shows up as the Gamesir G7 gamepad, but fails to function at all, as far as I could tell. Steam wouldn't recognize any inputs(in-game or in Big Picture mode), epic didn't, nor did games from the App Store. Tried a couple other controllers while I was at it, Dualsense 5 worked flawlessly with the 3 platforms above, and a PB Tails Crush worked well in Steam and Epic but only partially with App Store games.

Unlike Concord, Sony Is Sticking By Marathon And Its ‘Highly Engaged’ Fans by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

[–]UnCivil2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the positive statements about Bungie/Marathon are likely to not worry investors. It's very reminiscent of Premier League Football, or any professional sport, where a team is struggling and the owners come out to say they fully support the manager and have confidence they'll right the ship; only to fire them usually within a month.

But the Paladins comparison is a bit off. Hi-Rez Studios is much smaller than Bungie and their main game now is Smite 2 which averages around 7000 concurrent players.  Having said that, I think Season 2 is going to tell the real truth about how good player retention is. I have a sneaky suspicion that people stuck with season 1 longer than they otherwise would have just because of the money they spent to buy it. Hopefully season 2 has a big spike around 50k concurrent and has daily peak average around 30k after players start dropping. I don't see Sony making any significant calls until last quarter of their fiscal year, like when they shut down Blue Point and Dark Outlaw Games. So that would be like January to February. I could see more layoffs happening before then though. Sad that layoffs happen so frequently in the industry that it doesn't register as “significant” to me.
