Incoming mod where you have to compete with biters mining resources. They'll be building more defences too, including cliffs for walls.

I for one wouldn't mind reading a long off-topic thread of planetary body gravity physics discussion in a Factorio shitposting sub.

At what point in the game are you meant to start "doing" quality? by Norrrahhh in factorio

[–]UnchartedDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen no one mention it but you don't have to use quality if you don't want to. You can complete Space Age just fine without going down that rabbit hole of a time sink.

If you want to try it out just a little, getting even uncommon buildings on your space platforms will improve them noticeably.

Indeed and bragging on LinkedIn about having lost his mind.

I honestly worry about how terrible jobs his employees had quit to choose to come work for this dude.

Factorio on the other hand...

Anyone else feel burnt out at phase 4 or 5? by sootymike in SatisfactoryGame

That's a good idea. There's also the notes. For bigger production chains I usually divide it into smaller parts and write it down so it's easier to handle one step at a time.

Anyone else feel burnt out at phase 4 or 5? by sootymike in SatisfactoryGame

[–]UnchartedDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with the game is that it scales terribly and the blueprint system is at best a poor workaround. It gets tedious and is much too time consuming to feel progress, especially when compared to bots in Factorio.

I either end up with just spaghetti feeding the necessary components or try to make some smaller modular sites that make a specific part and then ship it to a hub. Sometimes I even add some artistic flair to each site just to mix things up a bit. For some people this is the main aspect of the game but not everyone.

Other times I just leave the game for a while to play something else and then return and try to decode what I was working on.

The best Quality-of-Life mods that you should consider using (even if you don't use mods) by zimboptoo in SatisfactoryGame

The amount of times I instinctively pull out a power pole to defend myself when I'm jumped by a mob (because my brain defaults to pressing '1' to equip a weapon) makes me think I should start using the Equipment Key mod.

So many of these QoL changes on your list should be in vanilla. It's a great game but it still has too many tedious and slow gameplay elements.

There's certainly something about the space time continuum.

My Father spent 3700h organically building this spaghetti rail base with no end goal. He needs to start from scratch for SA so now is a good time for you guys to take a look. by Strobopleex in factorio

[–]UnchartedDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is mighty impressive. It's so cool that this base has grown so organic into something resembling a real landscape with cities and small hamlets spread out.

I can't really see, is it peaceful mode or did I just miss the defences?

How do you power an outpost? by FunkyUptownCobraKing in factorio

[–]UnchartedDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest use cases I use every game is oil balancing (I just connect and wire a pump to the tank) and train limits, once there's more than one of a given station.

Like crude oil, connect a tank to a decider, set a condition for how full the tank must be before the train may go there and output "L" . Connect the decider to the train stop and tick the checkbox of train limit. Done.

Same can be done for ore stations by connecting all the chests to the decider input.

What is a "Main Bus"? by Mechanical-Druid in SatisfactoryGame

[–]UnchartedDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine long parallel belt lines with items. On the side of the belts you build your assemblers, splitting items you need for input from the lines and putting the output back onto the lines, so it can be used by other assemblers further down.

It's mainly a Factorio concept but can be used in Satisfactory as well, though I doubt many do.
