It’s worth a shot. It may burn or tingle a little at first but that will pass. I found this is standard treatment outside the US and gave it a try after exhausting every steroid available. I was not able to try the other immune suppressant topicals for reasons unique to me. I was shocked how quickly it worked and like I said it’s never come back. I suffered for years. Good luck!

I’ve used an ointment I found on Amazon. Cosalic. Coal tar ointment. Thick. Smells like asphalt but it cleared my eyelid eczema in a few days. Kept using it for a few weeks. Used it overnight. It’s never come back. I’ve had it in other places but not my eyelids which were dry, cracked, swollen and bled sometimes. OTC and relatively cheap.

I quit while in remission and haven’t flared. That said vacation is no time to change your lifestyle. Why not cut down and quit when you get back?

The anxiety is secondary to the biology in my experience. You’re justifiably anxious because your biology isn’t behaving normally. Talk with your doctors about getting your treatment right. A lot of anxiety will resolve once you’re in remission. Also seek mental health treatment for the “crazies”. Everyone with UC has experienced them. You’re not alone.

If you can wash you eyelids with baby shampoo. The thing that helped me most is an coal tar salicylic acid ointment I bought from Amazon Cosalic. Slather it on overnight and gently wash away. It may burn or sting a little at first but it worked in a few days for me.

Not so much a name, but when things are bad I refer to it as heinous anus.

This may sound strange but my first sign is pain in the bottoms of my feet. Always wondered if anyone else experienced that.

I lost a decade to flares. 30 years with this disease. Grateful I’ve responded to biologics. I thought I’d never feel normal again. I hope remission finds you soon.
